Also because it's overdone. So many isekais and their grandmas have this.People aren't always fond of the "Fantasy Japan" arcs in isekai because it's almost always "Wow traditional Japanese culture is superior to any other !"
as far as im concerned all of japanese culture consists of like 6 inventions ramen, kimonos, katanas, hot springs, geta and chopsticks because thats the only things ever shownPeople aren't always fond of the "Fantasy Japan" arcs in isekai because it's almost always "Wow traditional Japanese culture is superior to any other !"
This! This is the reason. It's overused to the point you can ask when the arc will come whenever there's a new isekai manga (the food, the clothes, katana, the bath, etc.). You always think about how someone else got isekied before to spread the culture. When it's not that, the MC is the one doing it (which is also oversused). It's not like we are not a big fan of the Japan arc, we are just bored of it as it is in 99% of all modern isekai stories.
A bit odd to describe the lack of bitterness in green tea, especially if you compare it to black tea. Most I've drunk were also minty, which I don't like."This bitterness and aroma!"
Especially since Japanese food is so overrated. Just like katanas, it's more about culture than actual quality. "This has a long tradition, therefore it's good." It's like the other typical food trope in fantasy and RL: "This is rare and/or expensive, therefore it's good."And also it's almost always about food.
"I was reincarnated in fantasy Ireland" and every episode is just OMG IS THAT POTATOESThis! This is the reason. Would be interesting to see a counterpart to that, where the MC meets a culture brought from someone isekied from somewhere else, like, thinking about food, beans on toast (UK), or Vegemite (Australia).
"I was reincarnated in fantasy Ireland" and every episode is just OMG IS THAT POTATOES
ireland is known for having potatoes and not having potatoesWha, slow down lad. Potatoes are a great craic, don’t slander them.
Also isekai Eire would be fun, but most authors have zero clue about culture of the Emerald Island beside leprechauns and Guinness.
The Ireland arc, the period of no práta.ireland is known for having potatoes and not having potatoes
The Ireland arc, the period of no práta.
I went immediately to the search bar and sadly this was just an ironic statement"I was reincarnated in fantasy Ireland" and every episode is just OMG IS THAT POTATOES
It's not like it's something wrong with the Japan arc per see, it's just that "Japan arc" is so overrated that I wouldn't be surprised if it happened in a slice of life romcom nowadays, as in, they already are in Japan, but somehow find it incredible that they can have japanese stuff...I don't especially get the complaints about the Japan arc.
Great catch"This is miso soup, a kind of traditional Japanese soup."
Was this line like this in the raw as well? A mistake by the author? The alternative would be that Kagura has had its own reincarnator who taught the locals Japanese dishes and also kept calling them Japanese. So, the locals would call them Japanese as well, despite not having any idea what or where "Japan" might be.
And somehow everyone like the food while irl, not all do. More believable if their reaction to japanese cuisine mixedPeople aren't always fond of the "Fantasy Japan" arcs in isekai because it's almost always "Wow traditional Japanese culture is superior to any other !"
