She really has no choice but to trust him. No one would be able to stop him and the best soldiers of the kingdom are all traumatized and break down at his mere sight. He could end her whenever he wanted. Her affection for him is kinda Stockholm-ish considering that.

They are always more than a lazy slob in these kinds of mangas. It's usually only Kings who are portrayed as fools though and through.
