I liked that the forest/bug constituency managed to pull it off mostly by themselves in the end, as they were the ones fighting this battle the whole time. The Mercury God was brought down by not realizing that they posed any threat to his plans, just like they'd been ignoring the bugs' efforts to save the townspeople so far.
