It just feels like the romance part of the story has stalled completely.I mean... has it? Political turmoil and lovey-dovey romance has always been intertwined since the third or fourth volume. Maybe not to the extremity we're currently facing, but it's always been either the subtext supplementing the growth of our characters, or a stepping stone for the main Story™ Rae was trying so hard to avoid. Maybe in comedics its taken over but well... I don't see how our hero(ine)s could laugh at all the shit they've been dealing with for a while now. I wouldn't say it's like, one of the most intricate romance/thriller mangas I've seen - the bits I've read of Yona Of The Dawn and Fushigi Yugi are moderately to majorly better - but it's a well-handled balance all things considered.
Yes because the series has always been more than just a romance and currently they're dealing with reasonably difficult issues. In the meantime they are still together and gaining experiences as a duo and Rae's entire purpose is to save the woman she loves. They're not going to go on dates to the movies while things are escalating and the series has always been escalating to this point, right from the first volume. It just feels like the romance part of the story has stalled completely.
It's a common thing you hear with nearly every yuri series that isn't strictly a romance. The story could have someone on deaths door, or a character going through massive depression and some will wonder, "Why haven't they kissed in the last 3 chapters? Where's the romance?" I've actually had that nearly exact interaction during, "My Sisters Best Friend, My Lover," and "This Monster Wants to Eat Me," among others.I mean... has it? It's kinda one of those things where its the fault of a manga release schedule. Like when you go back and read it through after the fact it won't feel like the romance has stalled or anything, or that things just got off track. This whole arc is ultimately an important part of Claire (and secretly, Rae's) character development in order to make the romance work out in the end. It's a common thing you hear with nearly every yuri series that isn't strictly a romance. This is also a very common complaint for arc 2 since people say there's not enough yuri even thoughIt's a common thing you hear with nearly every yuri series that isn't strictly a romance.
