Ngl, the entire circumstances is pissing me off.
Warning, nonsensical rant: First we're told that MC was effectively abandoned by his mother, said mother was apparently an excellent teacher and all of them are seemingly acting as if the mother was some kind of saint on earth (obv the juxtaposition is purposeful but like it's irritating in a way that ik the pay off won't be as good as I wish it would and they are almost assuredly going to try and play off the mother as some sort of redeeming figure despite the trauma that mc clearly still holds)---then couple this with the senior staff who's in a "mentor" position treating him like he's shit without trying to explain anything despite seemingly the weight of his situation. And then acting like he's somehow stupid for reacting the way he is, when again ABSOLUTELY NO ONE is taking any effort to explain anything to him. To put insult on top of injury, the protag is practically coerced into the position first and foremost by them purposefully arranging an expensive funeral they (or at least the above mentioned senior) seem fully aware mc is not in the position to pay for and try to act like the 70 million is somehow in his favor (again while not explaining that risks or responsibilities to mc) and then going on abt "oh we're not sure if he's worthy" behind his back despite basically subtly forcing the position into him. They mention the bs that they "trust the previous director's judgement", the director who, let us all collectively remember, ABANDONED mc 20 YEARS AGO and has not met him since.
I'm sorry ma'am (referring both to the mother/director and the senior) BUT HOW TF DO YOU THINK YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MC ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO "JUDGE" HIM WHEN THE LAST TIME YOU SAW HIM WAS WHEN HE WAS EIGHT

Rant over, tldr: interesting concept but initial setup makes it feel like the execution will leave much to be desired and I am irritated.

Thank God, I was reading various other comments saying how they thought this was great so far. I read up to the current 8 chapters and I think it's pretty terrible, irredeemable even.
The mother was definitely an awful person. It doesn't matter how much good she did, and how well she raised other children, if her own is so mistreated. 20 years, TWENTY YEARS she had to reach out even once, she wasn't even far away.
To add to the point too about the funeral, the random shit in the envelopes makes sense for kids, but there were a ton of super rich people that came to the funeral. And not one of them left shit. I pretty sure at the beginning it says it was already paid for too.
I think I can only see this as some terrible writing trying to get us to feel bad for the mc. I don't know if this came from a novel and the people who rewrote the start are terrible, but I am certain this will turn into an incredibly boring and ridiculous story.
If this is still being published in a year, I'll skip to ch 40 to see if it's still dog shit. I expect it won't make it though.

I was excited about the concept, but am extremely disappointed in the execution. This might get good but I doubt it.

Yeah, the concept is okay but the plot and story beginning makes me not want to continue.
I do not feel any sympathy for those preschool kids or the "good director".
She abandoned him. Left him with no food or money. It's a miracle he is alive. Now he has to follow her "will"? She has no right to be a mother or even to be close to those preschool kids, when she abandoned her own kid.
It would have been better if he just joined the kindergarten for the job money or offer.

The cute kids makes me want this to be injected straight to my veins. But seems like this might not be good unless its salvageable by the "last will".

Came out here from LINE Webtoon to see wtf was going on and I echo the same sentiment. If this was a story from 2009 MAYBE we could consider it passing but year of our lord 2025? When we know better writing?

THANK YOU, OML- I already knew it was gonna end up being smth like "Oh, MC you HAVE to forgive her, she had such big responsibilities and nyah nyah nyah-" I DON'T GIVE A FUCK. Because how dare you leave your own kid to raise others. How dare you not see him ONCE in 20 years, if he only saw her a few times with a good excuse to back it up then maybe it would pass, but not once? In 20 years????? Oh hell NAW! And don't get me started on the kids, because I can already smell the "Oh, but, you're not our director." and one smart ass kid being all like "The director liked US more." Because there is always some rando kid in these stories who has a weirdly competitive mindset with the bio child. And I just-...the premise has great potential, but only if the author actually adress those problems later on, and not just sweep them under the rug for some random ahh plot. This is clearly a big source of conflict/trauma for the MC that should take more than 2 chapters to get past. I want MC to resent those kids, not because I hate them, but because it’s a logical answer to everything here. I know that I would HATE their guts, once again not because of them, but because with my mother gone, the only thing left to hate...well...are them. I don't know, maybe it will actually be good! But right now? I fear it will suck.
