I'm pretty sure that was Ayacha, not Rua, in the maid uniform. Ayacha is the girl with long hair that MC carried off the desk in this chapter.Hey! Welcome back!
Also Rua working in same place as him is totally coincident, right? right?
Personally, I think Rua is cute, if not because her bad attitudes.
That would be quite the reversal of expectations. I'm picturing someone who is chubby, with thick glasses with swirls on them, you can tell he is an otaku from several meters, but also he is quite capable in other aspects. She wasn't lying when she said he was going to the university (he does, but got in a few years early because he is smart) and he bought her that bag (he is involved into the anime business, could also even come back with the first girl who wanted to voice an anime character, he might be the owner of that company).Of course the gyaru is into cosplay or something. Would actually be funny if she did actually have a boyfriend, but he is a giga-otaku. But alas, we all know this is a harem manga and our chadster has already nabbed her, quite literally.
I also think that's what her character is meant to be. She's not the heroine, she's not even a heroine, she's the spoiled, incompetent antagonist for the ML to work against by helping and promoting all the girls who are the heroine characters who would never have gotten a fair shake at success with Rua standing in the way with all of her grandfather's power at her back.Do you think that a person who's never been properly disciplined or had proper emotional growth can be introspective?
If so, I've got a bridge to sell.
I think it was just that, until he entered high school, his entire world was comprised of serving Rua and her family, and being tutored (probably brainwashed)/trained by the cousin met in chapter 1.Tbh I’d say MC’s also at fault for this bad writing as well.
He NEVER and I mean NEVER brings this up to Rua or her grandparents that he has a problem with Rua’s treatment of him.
Then over the course of several years never tries leaving her ‘til highschool. What was stopping him from leaving earlier?
Did he feel she would change even though she’s never been told in her life she’s needed to change?
Did he genuinely care about her? Clearly not.
Was he scared of her family? Nah, he insults her left and right and has no resistance from them when he just quits all of a sudden.
The only one who seems to actually care about her is her grandfather and even he doesn’t directly talk to her in her life.
Leading to this nonsensical clinginess to Kazu now (which tbh doesn’t make sense why she abused him if she is this clingy)
Tbh while Rua acts really horrible she’s never given an opportunity to change for the better by anyone and now is being blamed for everyone mentally grooming her to be the way she is.
In a good story I’d imagine she’d change for the better but this author seems to just like slapping labels on characters and not thinking things through afterwards.
It’s disappointing and really is dragging this story down.
Yeah rereading him talking about a normal life and stuff I can see I was way too harsh with him since I’d forgotten about the first chapter of this series since this takes months to come out.I think it was just that, until he entered high school, his entire world was comprised of serving Rua and her family, and being tutored (probably brainwashed)/trained by the cousin met in chapter 1.
It just so happened that it wasn't until high school that he maybe saw more of the outside world, and realizing his situation, he snapped and then finally went off on his own.
He was quiet until that point because he was cloistered and isolated and didn't know better.
Also I don't blame the MC for the bad writing so much as I blame the author, but that's maybe splitting hairs.
Of all things written in the story I think Rua is very well written as a character with a complete lack of emotional intelligence because of her sheltered and spoiled upbringing.Honestly, it's just bad writing...
Your last line is correct, but I don't mean that in an insulting way, because I do it as well with far too many titles lolYeah rereading him talking about a normal life and stuff I can see I was way too harsh with him since I’d forgotten about the first chapter of this series since this takes months to come out.
Tbh I get why he’s pissed cause for him he thought Rua was offering a chance for him to achieve his dream but just got spat on for no reason.
I still wish he directly addressed their behavior with them but tbh I now despise grandpa more for knowing all this and not disciplining Rua at all for this in any way or actually speaking to her about how others think.
He doesn’t explain why Kazu reacted the way he did at all. And Rua FAILS to communicate her needs to Kazu because she sees the world solely through her way of thinking and rather just orders Kazu to stay with her because she feels she’ll lose him if she can’t control him.
Tbh I guess my main complaint with Kazu is his switch up felt really quick like he didn’t really care about them at all or give any real thought in Rua retaliating.
Which wouldn’t make sense because if he didn’t care about them before why’d he stay. Rua already said she had no intention of letting him live a normal life without her. Like why didn’t he give this more than 2 seconds of thought?
Is he living with Rua? Then how does he avoid her? Does he live by himself? Why doesn’t Rua just ask gramps to let her go to him?
My problem I guess is the MC just doesn’t seem to care about anything concerning his relationship with Rua and her family besides Ruas abuse.
It makes things feel soooo one-dimensional and nonsensical why upon learning his life wasn’t “normal” he didn’t leave or how he’s able to leave or if he’s close to Rua’s grandpa why Rua can’t blackmail and see him personally.
It feels like hes just a power fantasy protag. combined with an angry sign that says Rua sucks. And ultimately he feels kinda lifeless in his struggles.
As for Rua I honestly wish someone would slap sense to her in this whole series. No one has told her what she is doing wrong.
MC always spits vague philosophical bs to her instead of spelling things out.
Like he treats her like the devil without ever asking why she acts the way she does or why he feels the way he does.
It just feels like she isn’t even given the opportunity to change and is just labelled a horrible person due to her upbringing.
TLDR: I was wrong about Kazu in the sense that his anger kinda makes sense however he still feels like a very messy cardboard cutout
Also Im taking this slop way too seriously…
Yeah…tbh this is just slop and I’m taking things way to seriously.Your last line is correct, but I don't mean that in an insulting way, because I do it as well with far too many titles lol
But he absolutely is a power fantasy character who's a bit one-dimensional. He is, quite literally, "S-Tier'd" in his abilities and capacity, as he was trained to be effectively superhuman by the cousin in chapter 1 as a one-man army/support for Rua once they were adults.
I can't speak to why he stuck around until now, or what/how/where he's living if he's able to avoid Rua so completely except at school - but they've also not shown him outside of the campus in general, or at least any of his "personal/home life" at this point so he might as well just enter a void space vacuum and sit in suspended animation until the morning class bell rings, or something.
Beyond that - it's just revenge fantasy slop, except the ML isn't actually the focus so much as he is the vehicle and lens for the reader to experience the "success story" of the various heroines--while being the assist to their trials and tasks and a foil to Rua who will stand in the way for each of them. Which makes this somewhat unique, as the "protagonist" for once isn't really the main character.
But he is immersion-breaking in his abilities because he has to be that one-man force in order to counter/foil the plans of Rua and her grandfather to prevent anyone but her from seeing success in the school. And that facet makes his character seem badly written, because he lacks nuance and depth beyond his abilities as they pertain to the goals of the heroines.
yep.Yeah…tbh this is just slop and I’m taking things way to seriously.
Just kinda wish both Rua and MC didn’t feel like the most basic plot devices ever with nor rhyme or reason to them.
Cause the girls outside of them ain’t really anything special and their goals feel secondary to getting them to link up with MC.
Like whats with him coincidently encountering every girl? Instant rizz? Why are the girls achieving there dreams so quickly?
It feels like a harem power fantasy setup where the story changes depending on whatever the plot feels like that week and the characters feel like uninspired tropes meant to artificially pad the run time.
That's a good line of thought.Jesus, the amount of theses written for this chapter 😂
But I had this thought originally, and this chapter really made me lock it in, so: Aya already liked Kazu, but she was too scared of Rua to ever try anything. Chapter 1. Aya was the only person who wasn't DYING LAUGHING at Kazu for showing up to karaoke, she sat there quietly, even looked a bit concerned at the situation. And this chapter, Aya has the usual "brat face" like Rua does for most of it, but when Kazu steps up she looks completely different. Her eyes are all the way open, her features are much softer, her way of speaking is softer. It takes her a second to realize that he's actually talking to her, and what he's saying, and she locks back into bitch gyaru mode until he picks her up. Then she's entirely red faced and takes another second to compose herself before speaking again. So I'm 100% sure that Aya liked him even before now, but couldn't do anything because of Rua
I thought that was obvious. There's gotta be a point that separates personal responsibility from nurturing one, if not nobody is EVER responsible for their actions.
That point is usually not the same for everyone, since it's more based on personal experiences rather than a strict marker. I hate junkies with passion and another person might pity them so our opinions on personal agency might differ.I thought that was obvious.
Apparently not, however.
Everyone in this shitshow is at fault.
OHH I just noticed this- we recently shifted to using panel cleaner to help us release faster, it must have slipped past me@LonelyDarlingUwU
Excuse me, you should never delete anything even if you don't want to translate it... please restore the part you deleted on page 19 where the details are written about the maid & butler cafe and the hourly pay of 1500 yen ~ 1800 yen.🕵️♂️
Otherwise good job, thanks for the chapter and see you later~![]()
