Green eyes, blonde hair, and barely paler skin? Caucasians catching strays out here. I wonder if those colors are really elf-exclusive in this world, or this bigot is just too unworldly to know the true aesthetic variety of humanity.
Bigots, racists and those that let themselves become slaves to their own hate rarely let themselves gain "worldly" knowledge. That is something that weakens their master, Hatred.
Though this does make me curious on what atrocities were done in that old war. Such hateful opinions come about for a reason. A really poor and pathetic reason, sure. But a reason nonetheless.
It's clear that Mr. Apothecary wants to atone for some grave sins, likely from the war. And he was friends/surrogate son of a demon-ish person.
My guess is that there were atrocities from all races in the war. And since humans won the most, they got the "right" to rewrite history and paint every other race as monsters or slaves.
