Man, this whole time I thought she was dressing seductively on purpose. Good to know she's just an airhead; that's +1 charm right there. As for the targets, I'm feeling increasingly bad for Shagard. I hope this isn't a bait and switch where Shagard is actually a devious and evil bastard in the shadows.

I echo your sentiment regarding Shagard - hopefully he is just a hapless victim to the twins' and their mother's bullying and harassment & machinations.

I rather like Serena being "assassin-brained" and oblivious to everything else. Makes some situations/interactions a bit rough to read, but not even that much all told, and I much prefer awkward social interactions over her being too-perfect in too many different ways.

I did laugh when it turned out she dressed to her own comfort and had no idea how she appears to everyone else.
Playing the Villainess with none of the charismatic self-awareness.

classic behavior for noble siblings in a dispute over succession rights and other power struggles. getting beaten to death while sleeping was also a method.
lucky for the victim prince, the caretaker around his siblings has a moral code combined with overwhelming lethality.

Fortunately you don’t have to worry about Shagard.

Some spoilers about Shagard.
Shagard is basically dealing with being abandoned by his own mother, his mother is alive and well but staying with her family. Most people assume she died but to the few that know, she is still alive. Shagard has not seen his mother since the scandal and harbors a few issues cause of it. Combine with the bullying from his half-siblings, he tries to keep a low profile. His mother felt very betrayed and even worse she was accused initially of having an affair but she was proven innocent, however the whole scandal took a toll on her and she alone basically left the royal palace to stay with her family.

At some point Shagard realizes that Serena isn’t your average noble girl. He ends up trying to get trained by her. Serena and Tigur reluctantly train him in an unorthodox way. At some point he grows some balls finally and confronts his half-brother during a last ditch assassination attempt. He defeats his half-brother and executes him for the crime of attempting to murder royalty, off with the head style.

Later, he gives Serena something and Tigur realizes that Shagard has feelings for Serena. Tigur takes said item and just puts it in a drawer where Serena will forget about it. Evan finds out about it, realizes he hasn’t made a single attempt to woo Serena and his own family basically is like dissing him for not even trying.

TL/N: How do you knock someone out with a fan? Even if it's steel, it's not like it's a centimeter thick...

It's a folding fan. It can be more than a centimeter thick once folded.

This specific fan has 18 blades. At just 1 mm per blade, the whole thing will be at least 1.8 cm thick once folded.

And since the fan is supposed to be blunt, 1 mm per blade is a pretty reasonable estimate.

The fan reminds me of those old Geisha assassinations in the Shogun: Total War games. Pretty sure one of those cutscenes was killing someone with a fan.

Serena's obliviousness reminds me of how in Heroine Survival Aria gets annoyed that guys keep falling in love with her, when she does stuff like kabedon or go commando around them.

Thanks for the translation, looked good!

and if nothing else, she can jab someone's pressure points with it once it's folded up.
That actually seems like she'd have to work to not outright kill someone with that thing, tbh

Cool-ass weapon for a lady assassin, though.

She put the dress on once for a tea party as a kid, liked it and has been wearing the same shit all the time for years now. Are we sure she's not a man deep down, from her last last life?
well it definitely didn't seem that way in her flashbacks, unless you mean an even earlier previous life

Also, comfort in and desire for familiarity/consistency from fashion aren't really confined to or defined by gender separate from forced societal norms and expectations, and whether or not the author was getting that deep or not in that particular respect, I can appreciate them bucking that norm in this case.

wow, there's an in-universe explanation for why Serena is always wearing the same thing.

On one hand, I'm glad it's not the artist being lazy with character designs. OTOH, it's a bit disappointing that the reason is basically "it's comfy". My headcanon is the dress is custom made with all sorts of nooks and crannies for knives, poisons, etc, and she's always prepared.

I feel like nearly all of my comments in this series is about her clothes
