Those lower nobles are written to be the dumbest people ever, flocking to foreign royalty and even helping beat up Shagard.
that part I didn't get.
The moment they laid their hands on foreign royalty, even Serena with her dual-mindset should have stepped in and stopped things.

I guess it would have been a sticky situation given the half-brother was the one leading the way, but that absolutely fell under her jurisdiction as Shagard's protector, and would be an immediate international incident that would see those lower nobles' entire houses summarily executed if this were "real" royal realpolitik.

I hope she got/remembers their faces, because those nobles' lines actually would deserve "deletion" in this instance for what they just pulled alongside Prince Fuckwad.

Absolutely. Made no sense to not step in from a politics standpoint. I guess personal drama is taking priority on this one. But this was 100% grounds for immediate action.

They understood how the other kingdom wanted a diplomatic incident excuse to purge the bastards, so why the fuck would they not immediately blow up the case of one of them roping in foreign nobility into beating up the crown prince??? That was your instant win "mission accomplished" button.

I was just looking at the other translation a few hours ago, and I’m glad both used tsundere.

There are some words and phrases that are very specific to Japanese, even when the setting is Western inspired, so there’s almost no way to localise it in a way that wouldn’t remove the original context.

This would be a difficult one since their best chance to erase them is by doing two birds in one stone, or kill both at the same time.

Both were close to each other, so the moment the prince got assassinated, the princess can raise a meat shield and diplomatic shield to raise the pressure. The same goes for the princess's side, in which the prince using the princess's death as an excuse to raise the diplomatic tension and pressure the kingdom.

To make the fuss restricted, killing both at the same time is necessary.

I may think that such a scenario could happen.

I think it was explained in a previous chapter. The whole point is to make the brother-sister pair do something so bad that can’t be waived off as simple bullying or things between noble kids. It has to be the level of a crime that can’t be ignored by both kingdoms.

From novel:
The crime that Ismail commits is taking part in trying to kill Shagard with a bunch of assassins. Serena, Tigur and Shagard basically defeat the assassins, and Shagard basically executes Ismail for the crime of attempted murder of royalty, since Shagard is the only recognized royal and he’s the only one who can punish Ismail directly. Off with the head punishment.

The crime that Aisha commits is trying to steal from the Evan’s family. A trap they set up in order to send her back. They trick her into thinking the item she was trying to steal was something that determines the next Queen, however it was just a simple gift the King gave to the Queen. She gets arrested, meets Rick who tells her Ismail is dead, her parents claim she did everything on her own and want nothing to do with her. And it basically sets her on her path as a honey trap assassin. Rick helps her with getting revenge on her parents for being used as disposable tools. Despite her official whereabouts are unknown, no one really cares to even look further into it.

I wouldn’t say Serena is a tsundere but she is developing into some sort of “dere”. What’s the one where the person is emotionless on the outside but soft on the inside? Kuudere?

lacking proof. They needed to get more eyewitnesses (preferably neutral third parties and adults) - which they for some reason opted to not fetch - or otherwise secure actual proof.

No you're absolutely correct; I wasn't thinking in terms of the larger objective toward the two half-royals, but more the minor nobles specifically.

But yes, even going that angle would complicate things beyond where they already stand. And Shagard wasn't in serious danger; Serena comments that he effectively protected vital areas and suffered effectively only minor injuries despite how many were abusing him in that moment.

Serena made the correct call, though her reasoning was flawed (talking about "why should I do the right thing when it just gets me beaten up", though I guess Scarnet isn't privy to the actual objectives, so saying "we need better proof incriminating both siblings to really solve this" aloud would have been a bad move). But her getting wrapped up in her own motivations did make it feel like this was more inward drama-focused than "being objective about the best way to achieve the mission".

Either way, I'm curious as to what Shagard can do, that Serena suspects of him at the end there. If he's willingly being a punching bag, I will be interested to learn his reasoning, if he could in fact fight back.

Serena's design is so crazy pretty and I love the constant nods to how she is in fact overdressed almost all the time.

I like the previous bully girl showing development and flip-turning it back on a confused Serena.
