The initial report said it was over breeding goblins, then the recon from the Night-elves found human shaped foot prints with an odd magic power. This is from pages 3, 12, and 16
Yes but that was untrained villager report, which was rather questionable, which is part of why his team did recon. Humans wouldn't be working with goblins, so when the recon unit says humans the assumption would be the villagers were mistaken and just assumed it was goblin. Assuming that goblins and humans are working together is a rather wild thing to accept as the correct info to act on.

Since why their scouting of the dragon failed has already been well-explained, I will probably just add that if readers have any doubts as to any details in the story, it's probably much clearer and/or will be explained later. The WN is very meticulous about detail.

And I should add that it when it comes to the actions of people, it takes into account the different motives, levels of expertise, cultural differences and biases of the characters. It may be easy to pontificate about why X is illogical or why a character should have thought about Y, but it usually makes sense in context.

They didn't assume it was goblins, the goblin presense was confirmed. The Goblins moved into the castle earlier and thats why the beastmen believed they could handle it themselves and sent some of their own ( this is page 12 ). The trained recon team that jilbagias has no reason to suspect could be mistaken (other than the situation being very odd) said that they found foot print that were "highly likely" to be human (page 16). They have no reason to believe any other humaniod species would be foolish or desperate enough to help/lead goblins in some backwater region, take shelter in a defunct run down castle, right in the middle of demon king's territory, except run away slaves like jlibagias pondered (page 17).

Desperation causes people to do rash things, its not completely unreasonable to think humans could take over, or enslave a group of goblins to do their bidding. The dragon most likely understood that even if his human form tracks were discovered the threat would be woefully underestimated, which would be to his advantage.

I REALLY wanted to like this but I hate all these "humans are weak and powerless type stories". The fact that the main dude can only avenge humanity by living as a demon (a superior race in this setting) cheapens any pro-human victory he will ever make. Him being human inside only works a tool for the audience to empathize with his mission, but frankly I'd rather watch a regular human dismantle this system with cunning and guile.

They indeed take their time scouting first in the WN, but the only difference it makes is that they come to the conclusion that the goblins are most likely being controlled by a human mage, perhaps a necromancer, before launching their attack.

Alex's retinue have sharp senses and many are experienced so they can all feel something is off about the situation, but stalling or calling for reinforcements just to deal with goblins could besmirch the Demon Prince's reputation, and if there are humans inside then Alex wanted to deal with it personally.

And the WN more or less goes over the above explanation twice since there's a detailed post-battle breakdown of the situation and how it ends up affecting Jilbagia's standing, so summarizing it is a good move in the interest of pacing.
Okay I’m glad it was handled better in the original material.

So according to chapter 1, the one helping humans including the hero (MC's previous life) attacking demon king castle is a white dragon. Is this perhaps the same dragon from back then?
Even if it's not the same dragon, if he learn the true nature of Jilbagias will he become MC's ally and help him destroying the demons?
Yes, it's the same dragon. And no, he can't become MC's ally. He would just shout "wait, you're that Hero!? Great, let's kill that damn demon lord right now!" with his loud dragon voice and ruin MC's plan.

First of all i thought she used holy magic to cast heals and i assumed demons weren't exactly fond of that bieng used on him.
Still she is an amputee that can't fend for her self or run away so she will still be a burden to you during combat
Who could the MC trust to watch over her if he leaves her?
