Judging from the high-tech combat suit, and the destroyed buildings in the background, something happened to their kid. Maybe after that, he got depressed and tried to find a way to bring his kid back to life, or he got angry at the world/something/someone and tried to seek revenge.

I'd absolutely take a series with this sort of future sight dramatic tension. No idea how you would execute it narratively, though.
