What utter BS plot. Seeing their own subordinate in the enemy's subordinate would enrage you more, not make you stop. After all, they wounded yours with a cursed weapon and gave them a literal fatal wound that you're ALREADY fully aware and now they get to escape with theirs? Not a single iota of a chance anyone would allow that in a billion years. Any realistic plot for this situation would call an utter butchering and disassembly of the two demons by the captain. The only reason this went as it went is just so the author can use that demon later on as a plot device for whatever stupid reason they came up with.
