Leave the kids alone! God, just let them have their date in peace without worrying about creepy adults following them around!

With this setup I fully expect them actually to confess to each other

Still can't get over how smoll she is, like from this angle she kinda looks like a grade schooler

She's 145cm according to chapter 25. That's small, yes, but not absurdly small in Japan. Apparently the average height for females in Japan is 158cm. In fact Meimei is, if you use that image as your basis for calculation, 175cm tall! That can't be possible, as that would make some of the club members giants. Average male height is around 171cm in Japan, for comparison. Looking at some of the characters, I'd say Arase might be shorter than an average Japanese adult man, being only a few centimetes taller than Meimei (who is absolutely not 175cm).

The back issues teacher must be good chunk taller than average. Gen (the guy with girth) is still a little bit taller. Rei is actually significantly taller than Arase, which makes me think she's a bit taller than an average Japanese woman. Emo senpai dude could be a little bit taller than an average Japanese dude, half a head taller than Rei. The two structural designer dudes might be considered average height Japanese men.

So, this manga is merely exaggerating Soyo's smallness for cuteness's sake, which isn't that uncommon in manga. The same as the professor, who is an old man and thus drawn exceedingly short. You can't simply trust the images to reflect the reality all the time, whereas stated numbers ought to be correct.

Me checking the series after a while

Now I understand why I wasn't interested in this series. I don't like the girl's design. Pigtails. I prefer loose hair

To be fair, that depends on what sort of average we're using; if 175 is the MEDIAN height, then large chunks of the population are above/below that. If it's the Mean it's functionally useless as a measure here. Mode is probably the most useful measure here.
