This is absolutely stupid. How well you control a summon will differ from summon to summon. You will naturally control what your used to using best. This is not a limit for her. It just is forcing him to not use anything better than what she can use. Why on earth do they agree to limiting, this is probably her best summon. If he summoned a divine beast it would be instantly over.
This manga needs to let progression remain and stop pulling the MC back down in order to stretch content.

Another chapter, another scene in which Calliope is my favorite character. She tried to warn her! The fact that they're "fellow disciples" also explains why they wear similar clothes and why Tessa can get away with kicking her own country's princess.

Yeah, this is a blatant attempt at handicapping the protagonist to make the fight last longer. The stated goal is to showcase his power and make her (and the rest of the clan) respect him, so you'd think that going all out with his best summons should be the logical move.

We saw her in 166, though TL spelled her name differently. She calls grampa Rainford "father", so she's either Carl's sister and therefore Akira's aunt or possibly Carl's ex-fiancee who's been given honorary family status. Either way, she was close to Carl before he left the family and has been hurt deeply by his departure. (Grandpa then calling Carl "son of ours" when speaking to her is confusing but I will choose to ignore the incestuous implications.)

I also have a feeling we saw her with zero context at one point before this, but I don't remember whereabouts. I just remember being shown a bunch of women staring off towards the horizon in one chapter and she could have been one of them.

she's probably as strong as a human summoner can actually get and importantly, they arent competing over who has better golems but instead over who's more skilled at using them since they agreed to use mid-rank golems.

So what's stopping him from summoning an army of those? It seems to me like the author is creating artificial boundaries so he can do the whole "show how the strong the MC is" all over again. Like he's buying time to come up with some actual story.

I’m hyped for this. Akira will realize he can deviate even more from the normal forms and change his golems up like crazy. “He can only draw what the world allows” created such a limiter for him, I’m excited to see a dragon golem and such. We know he can morph them into weapons and certain creatures can turn into polymorph humanoids, but with golems we can go the mech route!

Also excited to see what his cousin can do. Funny that she kicks Calliope like she’s nothing. Hopefully he also gets to demonstrate his stronger summons later on down the line so they stop underestimating him.

A well used move from Dal Young's play book. That's one thing you can count on. Him nerfing his characters when needed for plot's sake.
