The more I read this manga the more it makes me hope that these 2 don't end up together.
Thank god, I thought I was the only one who saw it this way.
Let me address it like that, I don't think the point of this manga was ever to present an actual relationship progress. It was never about them coming together or even about if a friendship between a man and a woman can exist. This, if I was a betting person, to me is a parody. A parody of romcoms, and if you look at it properly it is simply scenarios in a comedic setting without anything actually changing*.
Both of them are not in a capacity to enter a relationship. Now if Rihito is acearo, I don't know, I don't care. He doesn't look interested in romance, or the very least not in one with Noa. To the people who want them together, if it ever happens it will be more akin to Stockholm syndrome than anything else. I know there's a subset of people who love to ship people where one of them is incredibly active towards a relationship and the other one couldn't care less. In this case Rihito is at least nice. He might not care but he isn't acting mean or like a total ass. I don't inherently see a problem with him, because in the context of the manga we simply aren't presented with a person who he might deem acceptable for himself. He has some flaws as a person, but him being a rock to a persistently pushy person isn't one of them. He isn't even an extreme in his caliber. On the other hand, Noa is completely loco. In the 82 chapters she hasn't improved, or at least not marginally enough. She still has no sense for distance and she is possessive about a person who she subconsciously perceives as her own, because of her attachment and abandonment issues. She doesn't need a relationship, she needs a therapist. She is obsessive, borderline yandere, who is so deluded that she doesn't even realise what she wants. She wants attention, she doesn't want him as a relationship partner, she wants him as a possession at best. Their relationship at the moment is incredibly toxic.
*There isn't a zero progress, there's a lot of character development. But Rihito's warming up isn't necessarily a positive thing, spend so much time with somebody and that just happens. I don't think he has feelings and I don't think even if he thinks he does, it isn't any better than forced codependency.
I think this is a parody, so it will either continue being a parody that will just present stories until it gets axed or it will slowly develop into a moment where these two will finally get over their issues, especially Noa, and find their own respective ways in life, maybe as friends, maybe not, but definitely not together.
