Hello everyone, with this chapter, I've caught up to the Japanese version (sorta). Currently, the first part of CHAPTER 9 was just released in Japan, and the second part will be released in Japan on the 17th December.

Going forward, this would be a biweekly or monthly update, depending on how the publisher is posting the chapters. If they split it, then I would wait for the chapter to complete before translating, as I prefer it that way (I'm sure you much prefer it without a cliffhanger, innit?). That said, an update for Chapter 9 on my part will only appear early next year, as by the time the second half comes out, I will not have time to work on it, as I'll be thousands of kilometres away across the Pacific visiting family for the holidays. Won't be doing any scanlation during that period.

On that regard, if this is the only manga you're reading from me, I wish you an early Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you again next year with the next chapter.

I am partially convinced that Garen isn't real. That she found a corpse that nobody cared for and everything about him is her filling in blanks of the friend she wished she had, or he's a ghost.
So many things that he says that could be her speaking instead.
Probably just imagining it, but...

Tbh, the explanation attempt on why corpse bearers are reviled was pretty unecessary.
Working with corpses was a pretty reviled profession during the middle ages, see executioners, gravediggers, etc.
Having it be because of some mythos of one of them being bad kinda makes it more farcetical.

Hmm... I don't think so. Other people interact with him pretty consistently. Even in this chapter we've got elf boy patching him up after a smack. That sort of twist would require her to also hallucinate other people responding to her imaginary friend, which would make the reveal feel cheap and unearned since there was no reasonable way to see it coming.

This chapter Nemu reminded me a lot of Nekozane from Tonari no Neko, her peering over him while pretending not to care was adorable.
