I like Ann. A jaded professional adventurer that seems to have lost sight of what she used to enjoy about going out into the dungeon, who will likely rekindle that spark under the caring eye of Kachua.
Her ravenous eating when they stumbled upon her makes me think she'll eat Kachua out of house and home at this home dinner celebration that's coming up, but I look forward to seeing that side of her more, now that she's confessed to wanting to join up in full.

But the family grows, and Mom has one more person to help, and to be helped by, in her journey. Ann's former rank will likely factor into future interactions and possibly even conflicts, like if she runs into former party members that she may or may not have a sour history with. But, this really does feel like a "Protagonist helps everyone" sort of title, so in that light I think Ann makes a wonderful addition in showcasing how it's important to never lose that sense of wonder and desire for fun in life, no matter how old or powerful you get.

at first I thought she was grabbing at her arm when stating she'd had a long break from adventuring, hinting at some injury that forced her into a long convalescence. She had lost the "spark of fun" and was focusing on just rank and prestige and strength, got hurt, and then lost all motivation entirely.

But that also looks like the "bashful" pose of "not wanting to actually say what's what" that you can see in various manga/anime, and she very much did get physically involved with no seeming hint or tell of being in pain over it that I could see.

So I'm wondering if, kinda like Lucy, she got too gung-ho over progressing, and had a falling out with her party - or, simply lost all motivation, and left adventuring in general, thus losing her rank via lack of maintenance.
I'm leaning toward the latter, because she doesn't seem overly confrontational, at least in a way that would allude to being one to have a lot of friction with others.

I'm glad this manga didn't take itself seriously and gives us a heartwarming and fun adventure instead of focusing on the mc alone, it's a nice slice of life adventure manga.

injuries aside , maybe it's a system where, "if you don't stay active/do quests every 3 months, you get demoted" or so but i imagine by the time you're a rank it shouldn't matter. but other than benefits versus demoted out of something disgraceful i imagine ppl wouldn't care
