Not exactly Occam’s razor, but overall you’ve grasped the essence correctly.
In my view, the author is rather superficial in the meticulousness of certain moments; on the other hand, as far as I know, MITA is a big fan of old crimes and often reads about them, as he himself has said.

As for all the theories, we’ve put forward dozens of hypotheses, and the dullest one always won — Singo’s wig was the only real surprise in the entire story.
In general, reading his previous works, you can’t say that MITA always follows one template and never flips the story with a final twist; the relatively popular manga Scandal in Neon Tokyo isn’t really a good comparison here.
And yes, MITA is perfectly capable of delivering a fairly naïve and far-fetched outcome — “it was all a neural network” or “there are two Rikas who are twins,” and so on.

Once again, I want to share my useless opinion with you, and once again I’m waiting for your take on this 🙂

1) Rika’s phone call.

With the new arc, the author is doing everything he can to separate Rika from the “house.” One can assume this is entirely Misato’s initiative, since she made a mistake.
She allowed her younger sister to start talking about the “brothel house,” and Satsuki also stated that Misato is aware of this story.
She really has no choice but to support this line, while at the same time not giving Sousuke any reason to continue the investigation, essentially leading the thread of the search into nowhere.

However, the call itself and the way the contact is named — formal, including the surname — seems deliberately designed to show that they are not as close as we assume.

Readers, myself included, have noticed that we know nothing about Rika’s family.
And that the main figure in this whole disgusting group is not the younger Rika, but her mother, after whom she was named — Rika Miyase Sr., the matriarch of the family, so to speak.

2) The three-day period before meeting.

Many assume this is connected to Rika attempting, during Sousuke’s absence from home, to abduct Shiho or otherwise infiltrate the Yamada household.
But this doesn’t make much sense, since she could easily do this while Sousuke is at work; most likely he hasn’t changed the locks, and nothing prevents her from simply taking Shiho from school later.

Still, this timeframe was chosen by the author because of the three-act structure used in this manga — it is always maintained in the main storylines.

3) My last question for now is more conceptual.

Three weeks have passed. What is the point of this waiting, and what does Rika want?
The work hints - including through the “trap” set by Misato (although I personally tend to believe it was her own initiative, but I’ll reveal that theory after chapter 68) - that Rika’s goal is to break, subjugate, or otherwise secure her own safety.

But if we step back from that, why take such a risk?
Sousuke has no evidence; as you said, she has patrons, and if they exist, then Sousuke’s path if he tries to investigate this is literally a path to the grave. She has nothing to worry about.

Without any doubt, Rika does not tolerate disobedience and does not accept defeat — that’s the only explanation.
But if she accepts this, she would have to admit that she is not omnipotent and that Sousuke is no longer the blind idiot he once was.
But all of this is essentially sophistry.

On the other hand, we have another example - her hometown. She, or her entire family, has already fled once, just as Rika is doing now, and I think they not only disgraced themselves but also left a deep mark on all the residents, who not only don’t want to talk but are afraid to do so.
Perhaps this is about that behavioral pattern.

In the end - yes, blackmail with divorce plus compromising material is logical and fits the spirit of the manga, but if things go wrong, defeat would lead her to collapse.
If we imagine that she was the one who directed Misato to carry out this plan, then she essentially brought closer to Sousuke a person who, unlike Singo, knows much more. At the same time, Misato is a woman, which means the situation could lead to a physical confrontation with Sousuke in which she might not necessarily win.

Misato knows too much, and quite recently Rika was already betrayed by a pawn - Singo - and now she’s making the same mistake again. If this is the case, then her “intellect” has been greatly overestimated by readers.

If Rika were truly a manipulator and a woman well-versed in using her charm, she should have been softer.
Fake tears, a bit of lying, reconciliation - and later a request to move. That way she would have preserved everything.

She had three weeks for this, and after talking with her own daughter, she would have learned that Sousuke was already broken and ready for a conversation.
But no, she didn’t do that.
The first thing she should have done was to regain control over Sousuke, but instead she hands everything over to another person, once again losing control of the situation.

The only thing that comes to my mind that could explain why she might perceive a greater threat to herself - greater than what we’ve been shown - is the testimonies of Singo and Shiratori.
Testimonies that were hidden from us. Yes, maybe they’ll appear in the extra chapters of volume 6, but I strongly doubt it.
Don't call your opinion useless, at worst it can lead us to new paths of theories.
Also...please don't bring the "Rika has a twin theory". That was the great twist from "The prestige", a 2006 movie by Chritopher Nolan. But there, it was so well executed that it was enjoyable. Here, the disparity between both "Rika" would be so big, it would be given to us as a cheap outcome. She does have 2 personas, that's what we're gonna be working with from now on, please...

About the points:

1) As you guys discussed, and i agree, it seems more of a time trigger. Also interesting that Misato "forgot" this other phone in a place that could be found by her sister who, until now, didn't seem to know about this entire plot.

Agreed with the closeness part.

We've been somewhat deducting that the "whore" in this tale is Rika's mother. Her reasoning for this is still unknown.
A point of interest regarding this might be Misato herself, and the disparity between her younger self and present self. She was clearly "broken" into this present persona, and calling herself a "whore's friend" seems to direct to Rika Sr., as Misato didn't didn't seem close to Rika Jr.as we said.

But more importantly, the name itself. Misato saying she wanted Sousuke to do it with her, earlier on, might actually be a clue in this charade. Because not only that, the name registered on the phone IS "Miyase Rika", but Misato KNOWS that Rika is married and changed her surname, so why not update to "Yamada Rika"? Could it be an old phone that she didn't use or...she likes Sousuke to a degree that she doesn't acknowledge him being "taken", and her changing her( Rika) surname to reflect that?

Conjecturing even further, this setup could be a "two birds with one stone": she finnaly has "her Sousuke" to herself and creates a blackmail proof with this.

I'm pointing this out because, while not too far-off, she does still calls him "Yamada-kun". Now, this high on life, she would probably call-him "Yamada-san", right? Honorifics and culture are interesting at this point, this does not eliminates formalities( as she's not using his first name), but still adresses closeness due to the honorifics. In some mangas and the likes, this may denotes more than being childhood friends. But of course, i might be overthinking about this...

2) It's probably tied to the three-arc structure or else it's a time clocked as the entire period Misato had to do this whole ordeal to Sousuke( why, i don't know).
  • Day one: Misato approaches Sousuke, breaks his reasoning of the town and lures in into her lair;
  • Day two: after tiring him from walking all day, she let's him drink sake( tireness makes alcohol seeps faster, so the chemicals would be absorbed faster) with the substances needed for the filming task and does it;
  • Day three: ?

To note, "Miyase Rika"'s call was at past 16:00 of the second day, so 4 hours past half this timeline.

Alternatively, 3 days might be enough time to stall Sousuke, get a blackmail proof of his adultery from Misato, while she( Rika), goes to their house, earns new info from Shiho and search Sousuke's belongings( even his computer) for any evidence he gathered against her, to leave him even more vulnerable.

3) My point with blackmail is:
  • If it was "Rika Miyase Sr.", then her motives are still a mystery.
  • If it was "Yamada Rika", there's some use for leverage.

Rika having patrons that can guarantee her safety in some legal problems is reasonable, true. But the blackmail itself is not to threat Sousuke with divorce for the sake of it, but rather the reverse, to usher him into staying with her. To acknowledge that yes, he can cheat on her. As long as the image of an ideal family is made to the public, she'd be OK with it. Since Sousuke hadn't gone to the law for help to this day, it's not unsafe to say he would repeat this behavior.

The issue, i think, lies elsewhere.

You see, a little before you joined us, there was a small talk about how not only manipulative is Rika, but also narcisist. Everything goes according to her plan, and if not, would fall into her countermeasures. Her business, her dealings, her husband. And yes, she hates to lose. But that's the thing: she already lost something to someone: Megumi Akiba.

If Misato's into "breaking Sousuke" by making him have sex with her under Rika's manipulation, that indicates that the problem isn't that he's cheating, nor with who or when, but it's "as long as he's doing it under Rika's eyes". Akiba's existence brings our hero to the opposite, a possible affair with someone Rika does not know about. And as opposed to a simple physical affair( we don't know Misato's overall persona to just want that, but it's feasible), if it evolves into an emotional one, that could lead to a divorce.
  • By pushing Akiba with the baby ultrasound, she wanted to keep Sousuke predictable under her grasp;
  • When Sousuke was with her( Akiba) at the spa, it becomes clear she's somewhat a safe spot for him;

Both this are shown to Rika, and a probable Blackmail to Akiba when she( Rika) left the spa( because how Akiba flicked her fingers and was looking down), may indicate that Rika could have done something else when running away( Akiba literally disappeared from the story, so this could imply Rika forced her into not appearing again, to make Sousuke more emotionally needing, and an easier victim to fall for her scheme with Misato. Again, Rika is trying to not Join Sousuke and Akiba). My theory is that, with this, Sousuke may damage himself, but would divorce her and become unpredictable, switching from a pawn to a threat.

Moreover, about another point of interest:
  • The pregnancy ultrasound showed 7 weeks and 4 days;
  • Add that to 3 weeks and 3 days, you get 11 weeks;
  • If we add some odd numbers( like that time in the happening barr, that day Sousuke met Mitsuri and some more days until the spa visit), Rika's probably past the 12 weeks now;
  • Past 12 weeks is considered the "safe period" of pregnancy, risk os complications and miscarriages are reduced;
  • Sex is safer( actually, this is more of a myth, but couples generally say so);
  • Legally in Japan( unless by maternal protection law), surgical abortion becomes more complex and complicated after this time;

A simple conjecture is that Rika Yamada is doing her all to protect this pregnancy and keep Sousuke close to her. If the kid's his and/or she's doing it to preserve her image, i don't know.
Though...
After Shingo uploaded the video in momonga, that could indulge more thoughts of DNA testing into Sousuke. If the kid wasn't his, Rika would run away to stall for some time and create an opening for Sousuke to accept her back, regardless of him wanting or not. On the other hand, the entire scenario of being found out could lead to enough stress and possible miscarriage, so she'd ran away to prevent that.

Sorry guys but the "Rika has a identical twin" theory has to stop, for the sake of our mental health, that would be the most cliffhanger outcome possible, rika has to pay for everything he did to his honest husband and even his own daughter

I've read few interesting theory in this forum. But all theories only lead to outcome rika is not doing adulteries videos and no cheatead. I also hope that wasn't rika. But every week this manga released the chances of rika not evil in this series is always decreased. Shiratori have bold statement told sousuke if it was rika but she is not doing it with every guy. At happening bar also, it obviously rika at there and shiratori told sousuke they are doing it and the raw data evidance (SD) Sousuke has seen it by himself and validate it was rika and at new chap/67 misato has admit she is one of nakama/friends of prostitute wich mean in this context refer to rika. Sure, I'm not fully disagree about theories rika isn't evil but the clues has lead otherwise. But as we know author can flip everything.

About the baby inside rika i think that 100% that sousuke's baby. Because if rika only doing it with mori as we know mori bald because he is used contranception medicine. That why even sousuke has seen videos rika at happening bar which is rika was said she want mori baby in the videos, i think is only service for viewers. That why rika is really pretty sure inside her belly is sousuke baby.

i really feel poor for sousuke in this series, i also have a lot theories good or bad outcome about this series but i'm not really mood doing it. I only hope this series give us good ending who can satisfy us

This is a matter of personal preference.
Personally, I haven’t dropped this manga yet only because of the intrigue and the final answer to my main question - what was all of this written for in the first place.

I get no enjoyment from reading this manga at all.
And the author has already shown me personally that he will not satisfy the readers’ karmic demands, such as “send this woman to hell.” That’s strange, because in his previous work he did exactly that, but here, unfortunately, it’s always difficult.

NTR is a heavy genre in terms of retaining an audience. It will always be divided into two camps with extremely radical positions: some will hate the content but secretly hope for a better outcome, while others will simply enjoy their twisted fetish.
It requires very careful balancing all the way to the finale in order to keep both groups hooked.

The story only exposes the flaws and delusions of the characters, but redemption never actually happens from the perspective of most readers, which leads to rather sad thoughts.

Regarding the “satisfaction” from the “revenge” that Sousuke is supposed to carry out, unfortunately, that is impossible for me.
I do not empathize with him as a character, and the author will not go to extremes. As a result, no matter how cruel the ending is for Rika, it will never satisfy me. All that remains is discussion around the manga rather than the work itself.

As for the option with Rika’s twin, if you didn’t understand, it was a joke - let’s say an extreme form of a “fantastical” scenario that the author could theoretically still go for, since this is manga. But that doesn’t mean I’m hoping for that kind of plot development.

I hope I conveyed my position correctly. After all, every reader has the right to their own expectations regarding the story’s development, no matter how absurd they may ultimately be.

Hi. I don't know why you don't like the doppelganger theory so much. But I'll still say it again. In the Momonga video, another girl (Misato) plays Rika. In the first videos from the channel, Rika's face is completely covered and you can't even see her eyes. But the last videos (video from the park, and video from the bar) showed her eyes for the first time. As I already wrote, the eyes are not at all like Rika's eyes. But it can still be attributed to the artist's mistakes. As for Rika's duplicity. As we can see, Soske doesn't care much about his wife's life. Rika is engaged in the promotion of "secret accounts", she is probably ashamed to tell her husband about it. If Soska had asked about it, she would have answered him, but he's not interested in it. Husband didn't ask, wife doesn't tell.
As I already said, in the plan with the SD card, Rika wanted to reveal this to her husband, but she was set up. Further on, it will be described in more detail why someone would play the role of Rika.

Now let's move on to the points:

1. As we can see, Satsuki was surprised by the call from Rika Miyase. Furthermore, Satsuki isn't very aware of the rumor about the "House of Prostitutes," suggesting it was kept from her. Most likely, Misato is one of the prostitutes at this house, which is why information about the house was kept from Satsuki. Now let's move on to the older Rika (mother) (further I will call her Miyase). Miyase created (led) the "House of Prostitutes", she recruited many women from the village as prostitutes, this explains the fact why many people do not want to talk about it. When Rika graduated from university and returned home, she found out that her mother wanted her to become a prostitute. That's why Rika escaped from the village, revealed the truth about the house and hid from her family. This explains why Soske never saw Rika's parents.
Years later, Miyase finds her daughter and decides to ruin her life so that she despairs and embarks on the path of prostitution. Subsequently, one of the prostitutes of the house (Misato) was sent, she found out everything about Rika and got to her. Subsequently, a plan was invented to compromise Rick. Knowing that Rika deals with "accounts", Misato got to one of Rika's clients (Singo) and recruits him. Misato promises that if Shingo helps her, Rika will get him. To which he agrees, revealing everything about Rika's actions and helping Misato.

2. As we have already said, Misato definitely planned to have sex with Soska, she prepared thoroughly for this. I believe that Misato doesn't need any video of adultery, since she could have filmed Satsuki and Soska, she needs to show that it was "she" who took Rika's husband away. Misato's reaction to Sosuke's choice that he chose Satsuki confirms this.
I think Misato's goal is not the video of sex with Sosuke itself, but pregnancy. As for the three-day period, this is my opinion. The first day, to rub into the trust of Soska. The second day, find out Soska's opinion about Rika, and then have sex with him (if you need to take radical measures). The third day, to hide from Soska. We still don't know the truth about the classmates' meeting, whether it will happen or not. What about the video, it's meant for Rika to make her angry.

3. Blackmail.
If Rika's mother is behind everything, then her reason is quite clear. The main task is to destroy Rika's family life, plunge her into the abyss of despair, force her to return home and engage in prostitution.
If Misato is behind everything, then her task is to take everything from Rika. Take her husband away, take the child to show that she is superior to Rick in everything.
If Yamada Rika is behind everything, then the only thing is to make Misato give birth to Sosuke, so that later she replaces the DNA test. And even that's not a fact that will help. Rika knows that Soske is a principled person in relation to his family, that he hates adultery. She failed with the plan of the sd-card, providing her husband with evidence of her infidelity. By the fact that she returned the SD card to herself, she made it clear that Soska needed to be more vigilant. And he'll probably continue his investigation. After downloading the video from the bar, Soske realised that all of Rika's words that she said in the bathroom could be a lie. She can't be sure that Soska will forgive her and won't file for divorce after her return. And the judgement will take the father's side, since the wife ran away and left the child and husband, in addition, the wife is also unfaithful (there are witnesses). Therefore, all of Rika's further actions only aggravate the situation and nothing can change it. Rika used to think that Sosuke was very stupid and he wouldn't find out about her infidelity, but now she won't be able to predict what he would do.

About Rika's pregnancy and her protection. I don't agree with that. If Rika wanted to protect the child, he would not have sex with Singo in a "dangerous" period and in incomprehensible places (toilet in the park, bar and others). Therefore, we can conclude: either Rika is not pregnant, or she did not have sex with Singo, or she does not care about the child.

There is only one question in these kinds of “comforting” theories: why would the author do this at all?

The writer spent a considerable amount of time constructing the plot, the setting, and the entire atmosphere in service of his main tool-the keyhole perspective, through which he keeps the audience firmly in his grasp, where the goal is always “Mr. X.”

Let me try to explain. The protagonist’s suspicions are always fragmentary and unstable; they are always based on circumstantial evidence-always-even despite the video of the kiss. Rika’s second face is constantly concealed; she is required to create the impression of an “uncanny valley” effect.

Because of this, the reader subconsciously completes the full picture according to their own imagination and life experience. It is extremely important at what point in the serialization the reader started reading the manga-this is a crucial element.

These internal complexes and fears of the readers are what drive their interest in continuing to read. Many people are afraid and suffering, yet cannot tear themselves away. This both makes the writer’s task easier and sets an extremely high bar for expectations.

The buildup of claustrophobic horror and anxiety must be even and uninterrupted. If the author decides to change the entire vector of the narrative, it can only happen in the final arc-otherwise everything will collapse.

Yes, in the end this could bring him great rewards. A hopeful ending could strongly shake the reader’s emotional state, but it could just as well be used as a decoy.

Roughly like this: according to the plot, Rika turns out to be “innocent” in the 8th arc, but at the very end Sousuke finds a breadcrumb and realizes that he has been “DECEIVED” again. Fear grips him once more, and the struggle continues in the 9th arc-or the finale itself remains open.

However, even if we stick to the mainstream expectation of the manga-that Rika is a fallen and deceitful monster-this also brings serious problems with the final reveal.

When you create a “smart” Moriarty in a typical situation, without personal involvement in the events (NTR is a traumatic element for many people), you can endow him with any traits you want. But here, the absence of an everyday motive and simple karmic logic, as well as the attempt to attribute a mental illness or disorder to Rika, becomes a major problem.

Mental disorders, in the eyes of readers, distance the story from the readers themselves and also make Rika Miyase’s “sins” far less unambiguous. It is strange to expect readers to feel joy when the author punishes a mentally ill person; the villain’s guilt feels less significant when the villain themselves is portrayed as an impaired individual.

This is where the main question lies: which path will the author choose? And it is precisely because of these considerations that I allow for an alternative development, since I do not believe the author is capable of justifying the “punishment” that readers expect for Rika. Too much has been invented beyond what is actually shown in the manga.

I perfectly understand the alternative idea the author may have intended-the fear that your partner is not just an ordinary cheater, but a real monster. This works in the case of a serial killer, but NTR is a completely different kind of story; it is a thing unto itself.

At this point, it is unlikely that he will give Sousuke a “comforting” and dignified choice. Everything has been done to drag Rika Miyase even lower. Sousuke himself has done too much; he is no longer clean. His hands-and not only his hands-have already been where a married man should not go.

Still, this is a manga, and readers will forgive such things, especially considering that a solid portion of them are men.

Moreover, the author deliberately did not let Sousuke completely drown in Akiba. He always leaves room for an inner feeling that all this filth might be a lie. He knows how to lead the reader by the nose, especially when the reader is happy to be deceived.

I simply do not see a scenario that could justify the expectations for the finale that are frankly based on readers’ fantasies and fears. Because if we discard NTR and try to rebuild the story into something else, then the entire manga “My Beloved Wife’s Secret Account” is not a story about a husband’s tragedy-it is a collection of logically disconnected vignettes filled with unjustified risks taken by “villains.”

It is a work that gathers together stereotypical vices and motives for domestic crimes: a thirst for recognition and unfulfilled fantasies of weak and irresponsible people. This is a piece that reflects the author’s own inner cynicism; he laughs at the protagonist, knowing that the audience sympathizes with him.

Sousuke is the only main character who always loses. His convictions never lead him to victory; they only limit his options. And I fear that in the end the author will never give me an answer-though, truth be told, he does not care about the questions of a lonely reader on the internet, because he has already accomplished his main task: sales.

As for this theory, it may well serve as a workable foundation for such a “comforting” ending. But honestly, it would be better to simply finish this and remember one simple truth for life: never read unfinished NTR-under no circumstances.

Always read the tags, even for fully completed works. I hope this story teaches us reader hygiene.

Took me a while to reply and UROD-PC(as always), made the best remarks about this work.

Basically, the doppleganger theory is lazy, cheap, and fails a lot in the "5 whys".

1) "Misato is the Doppleganger!"
  • 1: Why?
  • 2: Because she has her reasons to break Rika and going after Sousuke!
  • 1: Rika has been with Shingo since the beggining of Momonga. If there was any indication that Misato was used as a doppleganger, Rika would've noticed by now, especially after the happening bar.
  • 2: It was recent, and there was another doppleganger in between these periods(Rika didn't know about the change).
  • 1: So Rika didn't know that someone made to look like her in a mask was switched to someone other who looks like her in a mask?
  • 2: Maybe it was Misato since day one, as Rika was breaking her in with Shingo.
  • 1: So why would Misato betray Rika?
  • 2: She has her reasons( hate, envy, duty).
  • 1: Then it's an inconclusive theory, base on lacking fact, AKA, a conjecture.
  • 2: But it was Misato who had the idea of putting Rika's unnedited face in the SD card!
  • 1: So the cunning Rika, full of countermeasures, willingly to put an SD card full of videos of someone who looks like her into the hands of someone she didn't properly know at the time, failed to see this possibility?
  • 2: Rika didn't know, she was incriminated!
  • 1: We go back to the last question.
  • 2: So a plot device?
  • 1: OK, that agrreable. But it also shows it's lazy and cheap at the end.

2) "Misato and Shingo planned the doppleganger scenario ahead of Rika"
  • 1: Why?
  • 2: Because Shingo has his reasons for going after Rika and Misato had hers for going after Sousuke.
  • 2: Shingo and Misato joined forces after a while and devised this plan to separate both Sousuke and Rika.
  • 1: So Rika, having pinpointed that Akiba was after Sousuke based on a phone call, couldn't pinpoint that Misato was after Sousuke( knowing she[Misato] had at least a past interest on him), nor that Shingo had any interest on her?
  • 2: They both faked well.
  • 1: We go back to the last question.
  • 2: So a plot device?
  • 1: OK, that agrreable. But it also shows it's lazy and cheap at the end.

3) "The Doppleganger was an idea from Rika since day one, to lure Sousuke"
  • 1: Why?
  • 2: She wanted to break him and make more susceptible to her, so she doesn't have to worry too much about keeping her business hidden at home( except for Shiho), and as to not traumatize him too much when he leanerd the truth.
  • 1: Interesting overall! It's just...Shingo had his suspicions about Sousuke being unto them. And he was OK with Rika's plan of showing him an SD card with both their faces unedited? Then what was the meaning of a doppleganger here?
  • 2: He trusts Rika that much and she doesn't have sex around with just anyone.
  • 1: Why?
  • 2: Because Shingo's inner monologue stated that she helped him with his social media addiction and Shiratori stated as such on the later.
  • 1: OK. But why didn't we take Satsuki's full words at face earlier( that Misato was a virgin), but did so with Shiratori?
  • 2: Because he was cornered and had no reason to lie.
  • 1: Or was it simply because it "made sense" at the time? The scenario is the same: people talking about people close to them, but about topics they themselves can't prove past the surface level.
  • 2: But that fits Rika's character in the story!
  • 1: You mean the Yamada Rika that is not solid built in this narrative? We don't know how she thinks, why she does what she does, only what other people think about her? Often just conjecturing, based on how much lack of evidence she has?
  • 2: That doesn't diminish any impact she ever had, nor gives us any proof that this take with Shiratori is wrong.
  • 1: True, and yes, she may not sleep around with just anyone. Doesn't mean she didn't do it with Shingo, either.
  • 2: But Shiratori's statement can't just be discarded.
  • 1: It isn't. But we also can't prove he isn't wrong unknowingly either. So this could be an exception, or even not a full failsafe rule for her.
  • 2: No, it must be true and that's that.
  • 1: Why?
Repeat second line and it becomes redundant.

As for the points:
1) Agreed with Satsuki's being left out of the rumor. We can't prove Misato was part of the house of whore as of now. The rest is a conjecture with stances of Rika being an innocent victim. She "may" be a victim somehow, but it's clear by the story so far she's not innocent.

2) I liked this one overall, but "pregnancy" doesn't quite get in at all, or is simply not that much usefull here.

3) Rika's mother motive is still unclear, and could be something else.
Misato's an interesting one, as it's sheer NTR( this time, better described than point 2).
Rika's doesn't make too much sense: Baby trapping Sousuke with another woman's child and "switching" the DNA test doesn't guarantee that Sousuke won't do it secretly another time. This doesn't work because Rika is cunning and manipulative, she knows Sousuke too well, if both of them have "sinned", she also undertands that she can use it to pin him down. Court in Japan generally favors the wife, even in case of cheating( unless there's a patternity fraud), and if Rika can counter circumstancial evidence( Shiratori doesn't have proof of her with him, and Shingo had his videos switched/deleted at the spa. Testimony alone doesn't invalidate evidence) with proper evidence( Sousuke with Misato, even if the defense manages to prove he wasn't fully moving, he still had an erection, so full sleeping medicine is out of question. And as he wouldn't have proof that something else was used, it's a lost case) than it's her win.

As for the pregnancy:
  • Rika is shown drinking while in Matsuo Jin's house( bad for the baby);
  • She shows the ultrasound to separate Sousuke from Akiba, as well as trap Sousuke( she could even have a miscarriage later, as the plan was to achieve this result through Shock itself);
  • She resumes her dangerous routines( even if trying to disregard sex, the stress itself is problematic, unless she's a cold and calculate person);
  • During the spa, she approaches Sousuke with the "DNA test" and talking about love;
  • The first trimester( 12 weeks) is the most dangerous one, as the risk of miscarriage is high. However, it "safe period" to have sex is a myth, as long as the pregancy is stable, both can have sex until weeks before the deliver;
  • Rika acknowledges that all her previous plans failed, so...keeping it safe to grow might be the best last resort she has
Of course this is all Conjecture by my part...

I only hope this series give us good ending who can satisfy us
Rika's didn't show any red flags to Sousuke, but after a while, they started showing up. pretty bad. And they were so blatant sometimes that even i thought she was innocent, considering how "easy" it was to pinpoint her. But after..."Shingo's wig"...i threw caution in the wind and started believing that that should just be the case, or something even more ludicrous might happen.

But surely you’ll agree, Mr. Kalimaman , that even despite the arc involving the trip, the author still places the emphasis on ambiguity.

Even if we take the straightforward path and draw an analogy with a “house of prostitution” story and project it onto Rika’s narcissistic way of thinking, the story is still full not just of dark spots but of elements that break the narrative’s internal rhythm.
The revelation of the secret itself came unexpectedly even for the readers, and most importantly, the shot of the kiss is completely unnecessary for Rika’s filming.

She could not have failed to know that this shot was recorded; she simply could not afford to leave it in any form. If it was filmed by Shingo, then it could only have been done one-handed at the moment of the kiss - something she would definitely have noticed.
Unless, of course, it was filmed by a third member of the film crew.

She was so “careful” (within the logic of the author, of course) about hiding everything - only to lose it all so easily? This foolish plot element honestly knocked me off my feet.

I understand the logical framework in which, knowing about Shingo Mori’s feelings for her, she manipulates him, leading him on with a “carrot” - meaning the hope of genuine intimacy rather than just sex.
She gives him that kiss as a reward, because for many people a kiss means more than the sexual act itself. But this could only have been revealed through Shingo Mori’s testimony - and there is none.

As a result, we observe a classic Rashomon effect: all sources of information are unreliable. The author gives Sousuke not a single grain of material evidence, even though in other storylines the protagonist witnesses horror with his own eyes.
In the 21st century (and within the timeframe of the story, the era of neural networks has already begun), video can no longer be considered absolute proof. Pregnancy and a DNA test would be the only path that could bring us closer to the truth - but that path is currently closed.

Despite making the protagonist maximally unstable, the author also imposes a number of restrictions on him that exist solely to sustain the intrigue:

  1. He does not confront Rika directly.
    A fairly typical reaction for a man would be not only to look for the lover, but also to vent his anger on his wife. He does not take her phone.
    He does not burst into the room during the bar episode (which would almost certainly happen if we try to imagine this situation in real life). Even considering that Sousuke himself would not be able to fully justify his actions, an ordinary person would not withstand such tension.
    At that point the plot would reach a dead end - and yet the author does not allow this element to develop.
  2. He does not conduct a DNA test regarding Shiho.
  3. He does not check the phones of those who were defeated - Shiratori, Matsuo, Shingo.
  4. He does not contact law enforcement or private detectives (this is a key point, especially if Rika Miyase’s name has any kind of record or criminal past).
  5. He does not question Shiho about her shared past with Rika.
  6. He does not conduct an independent internet search and does not continue contact with Terauchi.

In what he does not do, in my view, lies part of the answer - and the obvious part of the resolution.
But perhaps I am mistaken.

Minor spoilers about omake/extras of volume 6:
Seems like it will address Mitsuri and Shingo's meeting and falling in love.
It will address the age-gap...as well as "body-gap" from their time of meeting( we're talking about a Shingo that's smaller than her)...
Oh, also a comment of her chest size( wich, as seen in her cellphone image in the cover of vol. 5, is pretty big).

Points of interest: in the main manga, Shingo says he married Mitsuri due to her dealings in fashion, to make him an ikemen, and attract more views. In the short picture they showed, Mitsuri said she was attracted by his sincerity.
Manipulative bastard or intoxicated child that disociated reality so much?

Let’s be honest: manga often has an extremely exaggerated fixation on the idea that patterns of behavior are directly inherited from childhood.
But in reality, people are highly inconsistent throughout their lives.
What once seemed right to him in the past could have changed drastically due to the lack of recognition in adulthood.

After meeting Rika and receiving from her the long-awaited success and popularity, he gradually distanced himself from his old self and almost completely believed in his new identity.
As a result, his genuine love for his wife turned into hatred, because she reminded him of his former life - the time when he only dreamed of success.
This, in turn, distorted his perception of his “past” self.

If I were writing his story arc, this is exactly how I would portray it.
But in the end, everything is in the author’s hands anyway.
