Personally I don’t think his soul could worth that much to change the world by just being exiled from the cycle of samsara but i know that’s not the point

Did he have to use exclusively his own lifespan?
Couldn't he just use the lifespan of other people or even the girl herself if they wanted to have their last day to be on the same date?
Kinda of a waste of wishes on a genie with potentially infinite wishes.

I'm also not to keen on these endings where reality is rewritten by this author, kind of predictable and feels like one of those "and everything was just a dream" endings.
Like could we at least have a consistent reality where consequences are applied instead of just "and then the universe gets restarted but this time they live happily ever before and now and after".
Maybe it's just a me thing.

His soul, specifically, is not part of the deal. He traded his future life spans. All of them. The soul will continue existing, but failing to be born throughout eternity.

No matter how small a value is, when summed infinite times, it will become infinite itself. With that being said, he sacrificed about 70-80 years of his life to make a few months of her life better. If the deal ends with the girl's death, then he will finish his debt after a few thousand or millions of cycles.

Now I wonder if the monster exists in all timelines (past, present, and future) to be able to fulfill such wishes.

Hmmm, it seems that the "God of Love" responds to Yuuki's desire alone, no? You see in some panels he only appears when Yuuki calls for him. I think of it as some sort of Contract, where the "God of Love" would exist only for the lifespan of one person alone, and disappears until he responds to another individual whose lifespan he wants to consume.

I actually think it did a great job of gripping my heart as it showed that there was the consequence of her somewhat feeling Yuuki's presence but at the same time it bugs her that she can't remember (in the last few pages where she say's she feels a presence watching over her at all times) which means that it didn't really "reshape" the world, but more like "rewound time to a point before everything went wrong" (as we see with her father somehow being replaced, which means her biological father still exists, but was just that irredeemable lol). In summary, I don't think the "God of Love" had that much power to reshape the whole world, but instead moved "Saya" back to a point in time before everything went wrong and altered some stuff (like with her mother now alive even after she was born) so she wouldn't suffer (as per Yuuki's wish).

But I actually do agree with the "and everything was just a dream" thing lol. This is a really solid take and I really respect that! Glad to see various preferences on this discussion :02:

Well that was just... bad.

Especially the final trade. Why would I care about some future hypothetical reincarnated life I won't be the one experiencing?
well then I'd argue that the final trade was good bc regardless he's not there, or he is and he doesn't know it.

That's the point, the trade was too good. Take a million of my future lives, what do I care? Even the future lives themselves won't care since they won't exist in the first place...

I think donlanthirion's idea of the soul being present but being unable to reincarnate to a body kinda makes sense, pretty much a means Yuuki's soul is tortured to forever wander without being reborn (or, as the "God of Love" said, he dies each time he is reborn) so it's not that he isn't aware that he couldn't live that lifetime.

He's pretty much tortured to forever be unable to live all his possible lifetimes.

Now that I re-read it for the 8th time now (lol) I actually think this is more likely now! Since from the beginning, the "God of Love" didn't really bring back Saya from the dead, but instead rewound time to 30 seconds before she died! very interesting indeed! :thonk:

Bro what is this cuck behavior. Saving her by giving up 5 years of your life? That's fine. A little simpy but he's a kid and he saved a life.

Using your power for ever issue in her life instead of solving it yourself to the best of your ability? Nah too much work let's just throw my life away because exchanging deals with a devil is easier.

And then the final act just disgusted me. He threw away his future so she'll have a better life but he's not there? Like the ultimate simp sacrifice. It's pathetic.

Thanks for the TL but holy shit this story is terrible.

I think it kinda already happened. God of Time was released after this one shot. Same author, same artist and the title and premise are very similar

And it unfortunately, predictably, flopped. Because an angst story like this and God of Time only works as a short story.

It even ended the same way like this manga does. Total universal reset at the cost of their lovers' memory.

I'm not saying they're bad, but damn if it isn't overdone by many other authors already.

Eh the serializations ending was happier, they still met and have the chance of ending up together again unlike this one.

First the god of time, now the god of love. This author never fails to disappoint! What a good read, though I think makes that house, getting that much food and shit wasted so much of his lifespan. Next time get a notebook and write down your spendings maybe? Hire an accountant? hahahhahah
Well, they could have at least been together for 20 years if he was more cautious, still a very good time! Or make the God of love appear before her eyes, and make deals with her too.

Hated it, the life sacrifice is one thing, but he denied his own existance...could have asked for money to live with her, her misfortune was for where she was...
Really disliked MC using his life to send away the bullies, exactly as they were blackmailing her he could have done the same, it was a extremely forced story with a MC too stupid to go around, but is possible the "god of love" targets retards, that would make it click in place.
