I always like when the MC takes a back seat in stories for the main cast of characters for their development. Also this is just me but it makes kinda sad that people are complaining about the mc is not taking an active role.

Stories can be a lot of fun when the main character is more of a force of nature that the story moves around, Fury Road is like that with Max.

Just keep your eyes closed is a great way to tell someone to not bother.
