The "lose his ears" comment is a reference to hoichi the earless, a biwa player who was completely enscribed in mantras to protect him from a ghost. However, they forgot to cover his ears, so the ghost chopped them off.

So... the Raika mom married a man who is just as playful as her father. 😅 I guess familiarity with something makes it comfortable.

I love how Raika eventually went to join in the sumo play with her young cousin. She really is a kid and I love it when she indulges in that more.
