It got "axed" along with literally every other manga in the magazine because the person running the magazine had the brilliant idea of bringing over 55 new mangas to celebrate the magazine's 55th birthday. He also wanted Matsuena to start a new manga that would be included among them.

Kenichi was selling better than ever when it ended so it was not axed due to sales or lack of interest.

are you stupid? first arc didn't get axed, it finished. do some research before saying some stupid shit
