Now all the "game piece" motifs give me strategy game vibes with the finite number of lives Cecilia has to accomplish all of this with.
Also, I like that there are a finite number of "retries". Makes the stakes actually matter, as she can't just endlessly iterate on minor changes or get complacent with "well I can just die and try something different".
I suspect that none of the generals are the culprit; I'm curious as to whether it will be a "demon" at all, or possibly a human-based plot, or perhaps an entirely different third party seeking to point both sides at the other. But that's the fun of the mystery, I suppose.
The little flashback with her tutor was nice, though. Setting up a bit of her backstory and giving some substance to her character and her motivations - that they run deeper than just "save humanity", but also to find herself and discover her own true potential. Plus, she knows Milfina isn't actually the evil architect of this war - so that contributes additional texture to the problem before Cecilia, as she sees the Demon King herself as someone also worth "saving" in all of this.
A neat setup. Thanks for the TL; I look forward to more.
