JFC, people, if you’re gonna machine translate it, at least proofread it once. “She” and ”her” are not difficult words—get’ em right.
Couldn’t finish it, despite being invested in the story.
Japanese pronouns aren't 1-1 with english pronouns. If this is a story about two bokukos, that's not something AI can figure out. Shame, there's probably a good deal of nuance in which pronouns are used when and by who considering the nature of this oneshot. Maybe, could also just be an even worse translation than I'm giving it credit for.
There's also a bigger issue: the conversation between Tiara and her parents on page 46-47 seems crucial to the story but it's almost indecipherable.
Probably because you can leave a ton of shit out in Japanese if it's clear from context, and the art in manga provides a ton of context.
"While I only got to the district level."
"Because I didn't let you train more and didn't pay for travel expenses"
These sentences where probably originally something like:
"[X] Only got to district level."
"[X] didn't let [Y] train more or pay for travel expenses."
The machine translator can only see the dialogue, so it goes for the default: X = I, Y = you, but you're supposed to be seeing the dialogue and the art showing that Tiara is talking to her parents.
So:
"I only got to the district level" (the same)
"
You didn't let
me train more or pay for travel expenses." (Completely different)
