I think the narratively important part is how all of this is being traumatic to him but no one else can even understand that well because everyone is getting wiped from existence. It never got addressed how he saw someone he cares about die and everyone acts like he is crazy.

So... What if the mc got eaten by the nenokami instead? Surely the unsatisfied gap will be gone for real, right? Because without the mc, the manga will end right then right there prematurely, along with the unsatisfied gap story.

He's useless now with that ptsd anyway.

And... knowing this story we'll either address it soon but with more questions (somehow) Or it won't be addressed until the author feels like it. Because RN Hinata is in an interesting spot for a MC where he's fringing on a search for power, but is also traumatized. It's just a real shame that I don't know if we'll get a good exception for this besides, haha beach episode.
