yeah be inconvenient. i'm sure maybe someone would take a ruby but idk if it'd be worth it to go to a pawnshop lol. be nice if some kinda 'banking' system existed, if magic exists maybe some kinda debit card could as well to prevent thievery lol but i imagine ppl take physical coins

tbf, he WAS prolly lying/using it as an excuse rather than being "i'm from a completely diff world and have never seen what your country's currency looks like" (altho i imagine most shops wouldn't have enough 'change' other than like the closest adventurers guild)

altho they prolly should've given him a bag of coins and said they'd pay for everything for the first day in town anyways
