"Although this work is set in Kamakura, I also spent my youth in a town by the sea. So when I feel the sea breeze heavy with moisture, I’m reminded of how it can make one feel a little gloomy. Sumino-kun, too, experiences a humid kind of love, dripping with jealousy - yet he is always honest, and truly a wonderful boy.

When he was about to lose his place in the world, it felt only natural and comforting that he would fall in love with Aoki, who found him through a small column in a newspaper article.

I’m excited to see how the two of them, reunited, will face each other from here on."

(I was very confused about the newspaper article, but I'd forgotten about the scene where Aoki picks Sumino out of the soccer team photo in volume 1)
