We had 3 whole chapters avoiding the actual Question she had 5 chapters ago (I subtracted the 2 Himari chapters because Chara development) and now things are even worse than before. HOW can that happen?

and being the only girl he's expressed anything resembling romantic feelings for

seriously Himari was trying that hard when she had gotten NOTHING back from him, why did the series act like she was legitimately a rival. He's gotten flustered and embarrassed, but never the same reactions he's given to Akane

She does, but so does Saitou. I'm only realizing on reread, but she's helping him a lot without meaning to. The first semi-normal thing we see him cook? The strawberry sandwich he made for her. She brings the best and worst of him, which he needs bad.

Do you think someone who lived off of vegetable juice, ramen, and protein powder for years has a good mental state? His parents neglecting probably fucked him up and Akane is helping him heal. That's why he cried when she hugged him.

I park my catch-up car here. It seems the plot was lost maybe 20 chapters ago and the story is aimlessly wandering around, little character development for the effort all are going through barring that gyaru chick. Its fascinating reading this as the effect of bad communication between people ultimately leading to things getting worse off
