- Oysters are a local specialty. By themself or in okonomiyaki.
- The "deep-fried momiji" she mentions, or momiji manju, is the signature local dessert.
- It's a big deal that they got to touch the torii because you can't always just walk up to it. It's only reachable at the lowest tides. If you google for pictures of the famous torii at Miyajima, it's usually surrounded by water.
