to be expected, she was performing the role he wanted not what she truly felt or believed, really hope they improve as people and she develops real feelings or not they can just be close friends at the end of the day.

Read the spanish translation AND I FUCKEN CALLED IT , I like the ending where it shows her being asexual and aromantic and not fitting the societies mold but being happy still , I like that , But yeah 100% worth reading , AroAce representation done right

Although chapter 22's ending pretty much hinted of this, but it's still a shocking development.
And looking at the Spanish translation, the direction for the rest of the story is pretty interesting, not sure if people would like it or not, let's all see.

I like how mad some people are in here as if the story wasn't building up to this point lol
I try to remind myself that some manga readers just dont read other things nor understand narrative structure sometimes. It so easy to judge them, but they'll get there as long as they end up reading anything else eventually.

I don’t remember much from the earlier chapters, but it feels like it might be heading toward that whole “you’re too good for me” kind of trope.
Not even close, it actually goes on a completely different direction than that.

He actually correctly deduces through observation that she simply does not feel the same love that he feels (It becomes quite clear after it that she's outright aromantic, and it it actually possible to deduce it as well if you go back and read the older chapters), and she was actually forcing herself to do this because she couldn't bear to make him sad. She really did want to genuinely fall in love with him, but she just can't, it isn't really something she can choose to do, she just... Isn't someone that feels romantic attraction, one way or the other.

The manga sadly ends shortly after this and it does feel like it was kind of an axed ending because it really comes out of nowhere. Ujioka and Shimohoshizaki remain friends but end up in different classes, he gets to meet someone else and then it just... Ends. It does have a short epilogue that takes place a few years later where Shimohoshizaki remains single, yet is still somewhat pressured by society to seek romance in spite of the fact that she just doesn't feel romantic attraction. Ujioka and Tanba (the gyaru from the first few chapters) actually do get married and have a child, with Shimohoshizaki being the first one to witness the baby, feeling glad that she could be there as well as being truly happy.
