Can't speculate on other manga, but think he was punch half out of embarrassment and half combat reflex. This was their first night together and her waking to find herself hugging a man that should be in the next bed over would be kind of shocking, even if it is her own fault.


As to the trope as a whole, I'm sure it's cultural much like your typical Japanese food porn or straight man act. If we were Japanese it would be more funny.

The whole "taking over a murdered person's body" thing is something I've seen before, but it is always an interesting angle, and this story is definitely putting more intrigue into the whole setup. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's handled.
