Honestly you can be mad at the trope but the only reason she's not going to get married is plot armor. MC is a servant I really don't think people understand this , like it was laid out what would happened a couple of chapters ago and people are still pissed at him. Like if this wasn't a manga where things will work out , he would be the only logical one. He's a commoner and he has no way to get to her level so that they can be together. It's really that simple
Yep.
It's super fucking dumb, and I personally think Gray is spineless because he knows how she feels about him, that he should at least tell her his personal thoughts in private, at the bare minimum, and explain their situation.
But he's technically correct that their stations prohibit any relationship between them.

That said, Gray absolutely should have said "no I do not want you two to marry, but I can't do anything about it as I am, we need time and would need an actual plan", so that the two of them along with the staff could maybe figure something out.
What he did do, though? Absolute bullshit, and it's spitting in her face. I will condemn him for that.

There's clearly a huge wall in front of them getting together, but they need to be united in figuring something out. Him just burying his feelings along with any hint of a backbone like this is ridiculous and makes me want to root against him, because he shows that he considers things like "station" more important than at least acknowledging her feelings.

Didn't he basically explain all of that in chapter 9? Besides I guess explicitly saying I like you , he told her straight up what was the most likely scenario if they tried anything like running away or tried to be together as they are. Like he gave her all of the realistic scenarios and then she basically ghosted him until her fiance came. Like He said it to himself at the end of that conversation but the simple fact is he was born a commoner and wasn't born a noble.

Ah, the "I'm not good enough for you, I can't be with you despite our clear mutual attraction" arc. My favorite. Totally not overdone. I get in-universe that a noblewoman marrying a random commoner wouldn't be a thing, but this series ain't about a realistic society. Nut up my man. Take that princess. Fuck the actual pedo her family is forcing her to marry. Shit will work out because this is a light-hearted series.

This probably wouldn't have pissed me off as much if it weren't for the cuck panels. Really necessary to convey that this isn't something the MC wants. Certainly no other way. Has to be him imagining them being together in every way possible in 4k. That's the only way guys. Trust me.

This better resolve fast or I'm gone.

I went back to reread from chapter 10; I guess I was off by one.
That said -- he detailed what was likely to happen if they tried to run away. But he still didn't profess his actual feelings for her, and everything he said was to specifically dissuade her from wanting to flee.

That's not the same thing as what I was getting at.
Rather than being a doomer about the reality of their situation in the context of "us eloping would never work out so just give up on that"--which is how I interpret Gray's words in chapter 9--I'm saying that he should have told her that he actually does care for her and like her, but actually tell her to her face that their stations are incompatible and that they need a solid plan to get out of this engagement of hers to Grant.

They could put their heads together, rally support from the rest of the staff, and work toward convincing her father that Grant is a bad match, and then find a way to get Gray into the good graces of nobility in some manner. At bare minimum, he should have been honest with her when it was just them in private, instead of denying himself and saying what he did say in this chapter.

If we pretend for a second that this guy isn't just a pedophile. He also "claims" he knew something was off but was okay allowing her to be ostracized by society as a child. He also decided to wait until somebody else directly told everybody about the issue until he wanted to marry her. Surely its pretty obvious he had no idea and can't understand her, but now that he knows somebody can interpret he can use her as a mouthpiece to push whatever incredibly inappropriate and vile ideas he has without himself taking any of the negativity.
