Up until the start of the hero hunter arc (the martial arts tournament stuff), Murata was pretty faithful and it was great. No idea what made him go off the rails and just start making shit up like he did...

Every time this is mentioned someone says "But One and Murata work together on the changes", the issue is I really dont feel much One from most of them, idk I am probably wrong. Just look at the ninja arc and all the changes and redraws, I need to go back and re-read it cause I am not even sure which version of events is "canon" at this point.

Also on the chapter, 5 bucks on Saitama running fast and just passing by the base.

Nah, the fanbase is barely even relevant. Even with fanbases that don't do coping and hoping and recognize the garbage for what it is when a story goes to shit, it doesn't make the story itself any better or help in any way.

For example, the fanbase at large was shitting on Gege and it still didn't make JJK even a bit better. The lobotomized JJK fanbase is fantastic and I can enjoy it separately very much, but the story doesn't get any points for that. Same with CSM, AOT and what else have you.

From what I understand, he isn't making stuff up because One was still involved with the story, but that version wandered off into the weeds with all the retcons, to make the action scenes more dramatic.

Murata is extremely talented. Its just that all that talent is in art and he needs to be kept far, far away from the writing.
It was around the monster society arc that I realized Murata didn't get the joke. He thought he was making a cool superhero manga when OPM was supposed to be making fun of those.

I mean, he's fighting the pinnacle of the God Series robots. There's no way he's not going to get his ass beat. The question is how much.

Also, why even have him fight it anyway? Dr Kuseno built his whole body; there's no reason to test the robot against Genos.
