oooooo... so Rei-kun ended up like this because of his L father and his sickly mom, the flashback is pretty sad and makes feel for him. but honestly, he’s still trash in my eyes :haa: and I’m sure the silhouette of person who made Rei-kun make Uichi suffer is Yotsuha’s stepmother

yes-very-sad-anyway-1.jpg

thank you for translating

couldn't it be a Futatsugi from the future? The clock of the mastermind doesn't necessarily have to work in the same way as Yotsuha's.
that's an interesting theory, and the "you killed X" could be Futatsugi referring to her father who we know committed suicide. however i bet that the watch only works with the four leaf clover inside of it, and Yotsuha held onto that.

Every day, more and more scanlators are being forced to use the singular they against their will. For a small donation, less than a cup of coffee, you can help.

But seriously, what's there to endorse? It's a part of the English language.
Singular they is perfectly grammatically correct when referencing an unknown, but Rei knows who it is, so him saying it doesn't actually make any sense (unless he is trying to obfuscate on purpose). However, for the readers, we're not privy to that information yet, so it's a disconnect simply caused by the difference in how Japanese and English work.

It’s certainly possible that Fuu gained her own four-leaf clover, since the catalyst to activate it is despair or trauma. The death of her father could have served as that trigger. I’m also still hung up on Rei’s grandmother saying, “You’ve returned,” to Fuu.

Also, how does Yotsuha's mom play into all this because Rei's grandmother also said "Please Leave" to Yotsuha assuming she thought Yotsuha was her mom. Not to mention there was the paper with Yotsuha's mom on it.

Thanks for the TL

I feel like it could still be Fuu, maybe because she is amazing, so in Rei's imagination, she appears bigger than him. He is already in the sixth grade, and we know Fuu's father died when she was still in elementary school because that's also when her letters stopped coming to Yotsuha. If the mangaka made the silhouette a child, then we could easily figure out it was Fuu, so they made it an adult.

So if we're talking about things have attention called to them again:

Fuu has some kind of paper written. Which is really strange to call attention to.
The shadowy figure appears to be an adult, in the similar vein as Yotsuha's mom or Fuu's dad.
If the figure approached him around the 6th grade, I don't know if that makes him a middle schooler or an elementary schooler. This might line up with the time around when Fuu-chan's dad dies and Yotsuha's mom flips on Yotsuha. But that doesn't really put blame on anyone we've seen so far.
But how does that make Uichi a killer? Are we still operating under the assumption that Yotsuha is the indirect target?

Also we got two new names: Yotsuha's family name (or at least the one she used before re-adoption), and Fuu's family name. I'm not convinced the name on the heel isn't the name of Yotsuha's dad. I don't think she's some secret lovechild either.

Something smacks odd about Fuu wanting to keep that paper hidden. I wonder: did Fuu figure out the time travel before Yotsuha ever got it? If you were super smart, wouldn't you try to go back in time to stop your dad from killing himself? What would you do if you butterfly affected yourself, and Uichi got to the clover before you could get it? Yotsuha seems like she can only go back so far. Or more specifically, she can only go back to 20:15 of the previous day. Which means as far back as she had the watch + one extra day BEFORE getting the watch. I think this works in some capacity since Clover wants their watch back, Uichi being the clover picker, and Yotsuha being the one who ended up carrying it away.

That still doesn't make any sense since clover is depicted as an adult, and Fuu is pretty darn small. But she is one of those people Rei seems to idolize. So maybe? What if it's the Toshiya mentioned in chapter 70? Does Fuu have siblings? Feels really late in the game to make up a new character, and also kind of an asspull since there doesn't seem to be a huge setup to it.

EDIT: I just noticed in the page where he rips the letter he uses the world "he" and that he also seems to KNOW who that person is. Is that intentional or a translation hiccup since everything else is mystified? Either way, it makes me think it isn't Fuu. But maybe it's Fuu's dad? Or Yotsuha's brother (which still doesn't make much sense)?

Hm, so Rei had a pretty tough life, but mistakenly assumed Uichi invited him to play just to mock him, when he was just genuinely wanting everyone to get along...ironic

And huh, seems like Yotsuha's mom was pretty famous and cultivated a good rep outward....
So she, and by extension Yoysuha, are desce dans of japanese nobility? I have afeelong that's go na be an important plot point later on, nothing in this manga gets nrouhht up without reason.

And huh....looks like Clover may be misunderstanding Uichi as well. Like, seriously, he'd never kill anyone, and if he caused it indirectly he had no idea.

This better not be some bullshit like future Futatsugi got mad because Uichi "killed" Yotsuha by getting her pregnant or something and she died in childbirth, so now she goes back in time to fuck with Uichi. Or some sort of "Yotsuha didn't take her medication because of Uichi" type thing.

thinks hes a pathetic loser but he refers to himself with the mighty "ore \ おれ"? 🤨
singular "they\them" is proper grammar when referring to someone of unknown \ unspecified gender.
youre kinda stuck with it when nobody comes up with unisex pronouns in the approximate 1,400 year old language's lifespan.
also saying "that person" over and over again would come of as clunky and awkward if the sentence isnt tailored for it. like read one chapter of an older detective conan case and youll get what i mean.
