I believe in the UK has a book talking about a celebrity who was toxic and abusive to her that used a different name. If this book is an "autobiography" about Sumire's life then she could have done that.

I'd assume Sumire would've talked to a lawyer/legal team if not worked with that tabloid magazine before fully publishing the book since they still did also get Karin's picture with Kinjo but the wedding invitation was blurred too so I imagine some stuff might've been legally dealt with even if Sumire did use Karin's name as long as she didn't reveal her full name or so but Karin already got revealed before by that one ex classmate

Altho while Karin is the main focus be pretty fitting if the og teacher who didn't believe them/turned a blind eye also got fired assuming he was still working
