In a way I prefer this kind of manga, that has enough time left to finish, instead of dragging it out ad infinitum, nor the one that gets the axe with little prompting and has too few chapters left to wrap it up.

Yeah this just felt mean to Kyouko. She pretty much exists only to serve as a plot device which feels bad.
