A lot of messaging apps, and other besides, let you share contact or other info, with QR codes.
I can confirm on my personal phone alone that I can display contact info/add friend QR codes for my phones default (Samsung) text messaging app, the Google Messages one I use instead, Facebook Messenger, and Discord. Also Pokemon GO for adding friends for multiplayer stuff, though no direct messaging there.
