While I understand being critical of her, I know a few people like her, both guys and girls. They're just so nice and try to see the best that it's easy for assholes to take advantage of said kindness. And it's not like she doesn't stand up for herself, she turned down the high school dude that tried to forcibly make a move and even here she was ending things after she said no and he hit her. But even then, after they might think to themselves "Sure they're not good, but they can't be that bad" then thing that could've happened this chapter happens. It's not a spiral of boyfriends abusing her with her coming up with excuses, she's breaking it off after they cross a line.

And while it's easy to get frustrated with characters/people like her, I find it difficult to get mad at people who try to see the best in others

How can you be so stupid and accept a drink from that scum? C'mon girl, you should protect yourself better.
To be fair, we did learn from early on that she's not too bright, and it wasn't just an insult, it's a real characteristic designed by the author on purpose. She was totally baffled by lil bro's homework, despite being the older one, which was quite obviously the author wanting to write in a concrete example of her troubles. She was unlucky to have been born with below average intelligence, and it affects her life in a bad way. Her ill fortune with men is one consequence of it, since she gets easily fooled by experienced guys. There are myriad manga with stupidly behaving characters due to an author's lack of skills or laziness, but Sena is like this because that's an essential part of her role in the story.
