Hmm, I still don’t like the teacher. I wonder about that lie as well, it’s not out of character but it did seem to help so it’s probably fine.

I know we’re in an era when we’ve got our photos at our fingertips, but goddamn does printing your photos actually make a world of difference.

Get some 4x6” matte prints from a professional lab (they’re dirt cheap), throw ‘em in an album or frame. Don’t be limited by your screens!

So true. Printed all my stuff and it just hits different. Especially Fuji C-prints

I wish the author would give more challenges to Niina. We didn't see her struggle all that much when planning this exhibition besides having to come up with a criteria and photos that fit that criteria.

Why didn't we see her struggle with designing the exhibition, placement of photos, etc?
I think that it would be not only more genuine, but also continue to see her grow from her struggle with indecision

Niina appears to still feel stuck in place. Her two big inspirations outpace her. Minimi is the idol who already had personal development and now stole her show, just like she warned her about.
And Minami changed so much. Grew her hair, quit basketball, got over the photo, did (not) get a boyfriend. She already has shown more agency in her life than Niina, who "wants to fall in love".

The struggle this chapter seems more internal, in the end Niina did not succeed on her own merit but due to her photo subject while the most passionate work of hers got eclipsed by her senpai. So now she has to deal with this inadequate feeling but in her personal life and her career path.

came here to say just that, although i don't understand why it made me feel that way
I think it's a bit because what @chiliehead said. Mimili stole her moment.
But even though most people were just curious about the subject because she's famous and not because of the way she's being portrayed, Niina and Minami were actually appreciating the photos.
I think it's nice because, besides being an interesting composition and pov, it also transmits a sense of duality

Small steps at a time. She’s still shown a lot of grown since we’ve first seen her. She was able to talk to the visitors without freezing up like she used to. That’s huge for her.

Yeah that double page... wow. Everyone just wants to see the hot girl in a swimsuit. And the worst part is, I'm everyone. I would probably do the same if I went to an exhibit like that. Perhaps I am artistically illiterate...
