I reckon the mangaka just took a public domain 3D model of a steam locomotive and went with it. Quite a low-poly model to boot. I have seen Korean manhwa authors fill their backgrounds with a huge amount of 3D, more technically impressive than the Japanese mangaka, so it makes sense mangaka would slowly gather such resources as well. In fact, I have been seeing it recently more and more. But maybe a magic-powered locomotive that looks like it would fit this series is still too much to ask for.You know, he could absolutely just make a better shape for the train, feels like the aesthetic of the train just makes the train heavier
All that being said, I do prefer 3D art to filtered photos. It's unrealistic to expect hand-drawn background art from a dime a dozen isekai series. In fact pretty much any series these days. So, better 3D than sloppy ass photos pushed through a few PS filters.
