If a parrot could be a witness, I don't see why a mutant chicken couldn't.

Its only been 20 chapters, is a gag manga with a clear formula, already has side chapters. What more do people want....

Or is there some kind of apologist routine for the premium commenters I'm not aware of?
its probably more that people are referencing the model of Ace Attorney for the model of this story and by now you will get something more to chew on rather then monster of the week type stuff.

normally gag mangas are alot more compact and also kinda unpredictable in pacing to help keep things interesting. This one is a bit too regular in cadence and "predictable" for lack of a better word to for a gag manga and on the other side hasnt gotten the main hook yet for the Ace Attorney.

Like if its going to be gag then it probably needs to throw a curveball once in a while and do something completely random. Or if its Ace Attorney then either we need the main hook for the short term (big bad, jack the ripper, dark age of the law, shooting the gallery, ends justify the means)

And if its going to be ace attorney we need a Larry for everyone to shit on

I get all that. I even questioned how far this manga would push the now obvious ace attorney references instead of just being similar in some respects, in past chapters.

But the sudden turn towards talking about the manga's longevity and why it's got a problem now, mid arc, feels just a bit sycophantic after a premium user posts that it's boring slop, and it's the first thing you read when you try to get in these comments. You're taking topic directions from a troll.

And I think it's quite a stretch to bring it up now. Like sure, the chicken appearing in court seems like a reference to the pet parrot cross examination from AA. But I think it's still decently fresh. You say a curveball..haven't we had them? The chicken's one. Even at one point the main prosecutor became a defendant, while the new one was the criminal. And we have a new prosecutor. There's fresh angles being inserted as long as this formula can possibly last.

I repeat that the manga is only 20 chapters so far, and 7 cases. This is not some tired nonsense after some 50 chapters. This is not even 3 volumes. We are only starting to have enough to fill a clearer view of the "world" beyond the court. Some people ask for side chapters, how many could have fit in such a short run so far? You want a mega arc, or for things to be compressed more, I don't recall many other stalwart gag mangas conforming to such rules. At least not within 20 chapters.

There is a point to be made about how long the formula can last. I just think people are bending backward over a little too much or contorting facts to circlejerk some point because it's in line with the first thing they read. Because you can make that point, it's easy to twist and shape your impression to fit it since how stale a manga is is really down to perception. All you have to do is forget or put less weight on some things, while amplifying some other aspects. Easy to say this manga isn't going anywhere when you reduce it to labels like "monster of the week".

But if we try to distance ourselves from that, as far as can objectively be said, it should be quite some distance from stale as of yet.

Perhaps I could have written my previous comment a bit more clearly since I don't find it boring or stale atm (in fact it's the opposite). I'm just lamenting the lack of new info these past few chapters since we didn't get any new crazy insights like we usually do each case. I find it interesting how the cases are usually a peek into how that society works. If you read each case in one go instead of monthly I think you wont find this to be much an issue though.

Though now that I think about it magical girls running a magical business is new info just not on the level of previous stuff - curious how this one will end.

Also, I honestly have a hard time believing that someone doesn't find it funny how Yuuri always acts as though she has an ace in the hole while proceeding to do the wildest out of pocket shit imaginable in the following page.

When I say curveball here I'm referring to how the manga is structured. Other gag mangas are often can do 1 chapter affairs or multi chapter bits and can switch between them to keep the cadence fresh, think sleepy princess or Time for torture. This one has the issue that it is also glued to the detective/ AA genre where 3-4 chapter cycle is kinda set. They have managed 1 single case chapters but they probably need to do more of those.

A weird witness is tbh par for the course in AA. Its only notable here for being a reference to AA. Ironically I think they have done the thing that is considered bad in AA games which is when everything happens in the courtroom.

It also doesn't have mystery aspect where part of it is you figure out the criminal since its AA and you know who it is beforehand and the mystery of how they did it is also not there cause its not a game.

And tbh personally 7 cases is kinda alot when the cadence of it is kinda still the same, 20 I can say it might start feeling a bit stale, If its 50 I expect this to be axed yesterday. It also doesnt help that its monthly.

The troll can say what they want but I do think the manga is getting to the point you need something more depending on the thing they want to lean on to. If its AA then they need a bigger overarching story; have more setup in the ending to every case , potentially have longer investigations to explore things abit more etc. If its gag they need the switch up the pacing more. 1-2 more cases like this and it will be pretty boring.

People seriously should learn to enjoy the simple things. This is blatantly a "defeated/disgraced" manga. A fetish akin to ryona. In the same tone of "queen's blade - vanquished queens".
There is probably gonna be more, we already got some foreshadowing, like the secret reason why the magical girl defeat cannot be allowed. But ultimately this is what this manga is about: magical girls being defeated and publicly embarassed. That's what is inside your plate. If you don't like it, you better go eat somewhere else.

The thing is that we do like this. Otherwise, we wouldn't be here, 21 chapters in, talking about this manga. And it's not that we want the trials to stop. It's that we want something new to the formula that we've seen 7 times over.

I mentioned earlier about expanding Aoi's "Day in the Life" into a few chapter mini arc to breath some fresh air and give us more characterization and development of one of the main characters we barely know anything about.

Understandable but this is like saying "i'm tired to see fights in this martial arts manga".
Nothing against variety. But you are reading ecchi ace attorney. This is the selling point of this manga.

Oh, hey, another Phoenix Wright reference.

I really hope the good side does not always win because, otherwise, it'll just be lame since there'll be no real hardship.

Yuuri is, technically speaking, being a magical girl during a trial. So, technically, if she loses, she lost as a magical girl, no? Hmm...

They've already mentioned that it only counts if they lose to a monster so losing a case isn't really gonna get Yuuri or Aoi into trouble.
That said the giga genius that is Yuuri had the great idea to bring a possibly dangerous monster into the courtroom with 5 transformed magical girls nearby so it's not out of the question someone might have a bad time next chapter.

Funny thing came to mind, what if we get a monster prosecutor down the line? it might count then

Right.
Still, I really hope the author spices things up and don't just make Yuuri win all the time. The monster prosecutor idea is pretty good. And I already have an idea for a punishment.

Anti-Justice: You get unjust threatments to the point where you basically become a slave and deprived of any rights - including going to the bathroom, deprived of sleep, sunlight, etc... If you know anything about what a lack of sleep does or basically stuck in a completely dark room does... that can get cruel fast. But they still feed her so she still has to live through it.

This could lead to some kind of revenge arc down the line. Or someone trying to get her out of the punishment.
