This team is perfect for Jiro. They aren't sour he got the ace spot despite being the rookie. They are super-hyped to have him in the team, are cheering him on and want to make things easier for him. They have their high schools decided already and don't feel threatened by him, and in fact want him as their junior, to the point of being protective. They have already gone through the fallout of the passage of a super-pitcher (Takada) and have grown stronger from the experience. Jiro can have a lot of fun with these chaps. In fact, this chapter showed his first real smile in a while.
Also, a prodigious pitcher who can shut everyone out, plus a Spartan batting lineup that can score runs like there's no tomorrow? It's like they can crush any team through the mercy rule if Jiro is the starting pitcher.
Yes, it's my bet that Jiro's gonna love playing with this team. And that's the tragedy: this is the seniors' last tournament, so in just a few weeks they'll be gone. So it'll be the U12 all over again, Jiro will have to say goodbye to a team where he feels he belongs. And then the drama will resume with a vengeance. Let's just hope he decides to join the U15 and manages to have fun with his old teammates again, though things may get tense with the Neyagawa duo if Jiro gets the number 1 jersey from Madoka again.
