Seeing how the mc is portrayed as a replacement for her husband doesn't really sit well with me
i understand her grief and why looking at the mc triggers memories of her husband, but it still feels like he's being treated as a standin rather than as his own person

Yeah the scene in the apartment needed a little more room to breathe. I quite like the hidden removal of her ring after airing some of her regrets and asking Keita to watch over her from now on. But we got from A to B too fast.

I wouldn't say he's a replacement just yet but it is worryingly going towards that direction.
I still think this story would have been better without the romantic angle this early on though.

Not even, my mom has been holding grudges over dumb stuff folks said at her dad's funeral for decades.

Tsubaki may have had a trash relationship w/ 'em all along or the author is maybe building this up as the really common thing folks in mourning do of displacing their grief with anger - she's an outsider and isn't grieving in the "right" way and they can be mad at her b/c she's there and can't at their son/brother cause he's dead.

Because it's only half right.
Because most people who point it out has issue with it because she doesn't exclusively belong to the MC.
Because this story is just as much about her moving on her grief as it is about the MC finding his confidence and passion again.
Because it's really fucking obvious that they're gonna end up together in the end anyways.
