Shadow powers? For some reason, MC power is remind me of Cid or even Sung Jin-Woo. and turns out Soma's friend is a top-ranked girl with big boobs :smugchisato: Also, I don't know why, but I keep getting the feeling Soma might actually be a girl pretending to be a guy, like she's hiding her real identity. (just my feeling)

MC was introduced in chapter 1 as the former "Japan's strongest dungeon raider", so how does this kid not know who he is? Kid knows his name and everything, so obviously he's done some research, yet he isn't expecting the former #1, who was raiding before all the safety gear was even invented, to be strong enough to deal with minor issues like S ranks or SS ranks?

Strangely younger authors act like there would have been never celebrities before the last one or two decade.
Like around 1999 or even 2005 would have been the middle ages...

They probably assume he died or something

There are plenty of celebrities you might forget if the media stops shoving them in your face for 5 minutes or celebrities known by a nickname. That annoying twat is dumb, but it’s not unfeasible that he was too stupid to do a name search on google because he didn’t think anything would show up.

See that's the thing. Our civilization is one that obsesses about information. You see this all the time in historical texts aand essays. Even in the before times when you had to physically write each word on the page, we as a civilization recorded detailed accounts of wars and events so that future generations would know about them.

So that makes me all the more confused when authors do this. Either someone made a concerted effort to erase the MC from the in setting history, or the author is utterly incompetent at their profession.

To sum up:
"-Basically there's this high school except she's got huge boobs. I mean some serious honkers. A real set of badonkers. Packin some dobonhonkeros. Massive doboonkabhankoloos. Big ol' tonhongerekoogers.
-What happens next?!
-Transfer student shows up with even bigger bonkhonagahoogs. Humongous hungolomghononoloughongous."

So far, I'm under the assumption that MC is unknown today primarily because dungeon exploring back during his time wasn't a popular thing people just... did and broadcasted to everyone interested in watching, not like it is in the present? Like the current dungeon divers know just enough to be familiar with what gear is old-fashioned, but few if at all would be familiar with their predecessors over a decade before their time.

ETA: And I'm guessing that even if one does some research like the new kid, I'm guessing whatever achievements MC had in his prime wasn't as well documented like it would be now?

This. He likely was an adventurer but nobody knew. The female lead doesn't even know much about her parents. Safe to say they were dungeon diving in an unorganized way, so nobody really knew much.

There’s an entire generation gap between then and now with streaming obviously not being something that happened back when he was active. Can you immediately recognize Micheal Anthony Wright and tell me his claim to fame without checking his name on google or Wikipedia? Just completely off the top of your head or by asking anyone under the age of 25?
