Because I see these two get confused, is she actually a step sister or a sister in law? A step sister would be the daughter of your parent's spouse not related by blood in any way to you. A sister in law would be your spouse's sister. And a half sister would be a sister who you only share one parent with.

Sorry, it was my translation error, I thought "gimai" only referred to a stepsister, apparently it has another meaning, sister-in-law, I have corrected i t.
