Not the most fucked up food I've ever heard of but still pretty up there. The most fucked up food I've heard about so far is the Ortolan Bunting. What you do is it take a little Songbird stuff it full of grain while it's alive and then drown it in wine and roast it in fire. The fact that you just take the bird and put it in a box full of wine and let it drown just seems needlessly cruel and painful to the bird.

It gets worse: sometimes first the bird’s eyes are gouged out, which tricks the bird into thinking that it‘s night and they eat more and thus get fatter faster.

Rice and beans are very bland on their own, which just makes them absolutely perfect for adding flavors to. There are so many different ways to eat rice and beans it's crazy.

And they're even really healthy when you mix them together. Their vitamin and amino acid profiles blend together almost perfectly.

If there was ever a type of food that was meant to be eaten every day, it's rice and beans.

Shark fin soup is pretty effed up too. as they take the fins from a live shark and throw the rest back from what I've heard.

I believe all are? All snakes are edible too, for example, it's just that you have to be cautious of where their venom is stored on their body. I believe with spider, so long as you cut of their head -- and I think the same is true for snakes -- you'll remove the source of their venom and they'll be safe to eat.

Actually, venom tends to be digestible as well, doesn't it? It's just that the more potent it is, the more likely it'll go from being a venom, to a poison when eaten. So best not to risk it.
