“My Wife is a Magical Girl” except non-explicit and in manga form (and that he knows from the get-go). Didn’t finish it or go that deep into it because it was weird asf in some parts, but yeah. Love the wholesome angle, lol.

Not like there isn’t truth to that, but they were only drawn to them at the blind date in the first place because of their growing love for them over the course of years and recognizing them. Plus, was kind of insensitive to just burst out saying her secret identity like that in front of everyone. Sure, he might just be labelled as a weirdo and that being the end of that, but still quite a risky and inconsiderate way to ask it. So kind of also just an underlying issue?? Not necessarily personality, but just being unable to contain himself, I guess. Just call them aside and say it, lol. Also feels kind of like how a relationship with an idol and a fan would be like, but without the societal backlash and stuff since it’s a secret identity, lol.
Also did you mean appearance or personality? Because yeah, appearance is a part of people, but isn’t that like saying “Oh, they’re beautiful. I don’t know about their personality, but I’m sure I could grow to love it.” Not that I’m saying there’s anything necessarily wrong with that though. Sorta just drawing a parallel. Makes sense since he also says “Miku is my number one now!”, which means I guess it didn’t start out that way. Guess it could be compared to a scale?? On which one he prioritizes more and stuff. Maybe he’d grown to be more grounded to the facts and that she’s retired too, but I dunno.
I dunno, it just feels like subbing it for personality would make more sense in that case in some ways. Although I suppose appearance is the leading reason that tipped him off on who she was, her tone of voice and the way she conducts herself being the other.
The lack of showing the difference is probably just because he sees her as her magical girl persona 100% of the time, but is rational enough to know that she’s in her normal civilian form. Something like that.
Ehhhhh—point as a whole? Fair enough. Feels kinda iffy still tho. Increased interest, yeah. Circling back to what I said earlier though… Whole relationship as a whole wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for that push of knowledge tipping him off, I feel like. But yeah, the love feels shallow without knowing the backstory and seeing his current present-day reactions towards her becoming one again… Guess he was still rational enough to ask why, but still, his character leaves much to be desired, icl lol.
Again, they might fix this in a chapter or two—or maybe they’re dragging it on and giving us the backstory way later because of “anticipation” or whatever—but okay, we’ll see how it turns out eventually… Maybe… Hah…
For us, he still feels like the fanatic boy idolizing her, since we don’t necessarily see much growth aside from him “giving up”, lol. And yes, he DOES basically idolize her. Raison D’etre? Literally means “The most important reason for someone’s existence.” in this scenario. I would NOT be surprised if he just had photos of her around his room. Who knows, maybe he gets a scene where he throws it all away to move on. That, or being like, “I got the real thing now, so there’s no need for it anymore.” or something before packing it away in a box or something, lol.
Maybe we get to see flashbacks later on to salvage this. Maybe… Dates where he finds out her little quirks, habits, stuff like that. Amusement park dates, restaurant dates, maybe even a boat ride. Who knows, lol. If they do, I wouldn’t be surprised if she excused herself to stealthily get rid of any monsters that might get in the way of it all either. Then again, he knows, but still. He thinks she’s retired, which she is, but she still has her magic (an anomaly and abnormality, ig), so that’s reason enough to hide it, lol.

Rather than the magical girls being desperate enough, I thought of it as a whole government organization structured around managing magical girls and the threats that they face, which I guess can’t be fended off by modern day weaponry.
Guess that’d rouse hype once the hypothetical sham of power dissipating gets out, though. Everyone gets to see their old favourites, something something nostalgia, stuff like that, lol. Getting the old gang back together, basically. Except they aren’t a gang, lol. Yk tho.
Yeah though. Wonder what enemy it is. If it’s actually life-threatening on a massive scale and they don’t mind tragedy/mild gore (despite the wholesome approach I know they’re trying to keep with this), I could see the “strongest magical girl ever” line being used in an actual dramatic manner where she’s standing upon an apocalyptic scenario where everything around her is rubble and she delivers the final blow in said hellscape on a horrifying monstrosity while her allies lie on the jagged ground all around her, unconscious or dead.
