The art was never good to begin with. The author sometimes put a bit extra effort into designing a new girl, but backgrounds, side characters and harem members he lost interest in always got below-average attention.

yeah, incredible, i mean the artist was never good to begin with, he has a ton of problems with perspective shift and angle shift from faces, even when viewed from the front he can't even center the features properly.
but it has gotten even worse, these look almost like rough sketches for a proper artist
