I love this series. My only complaint is that the art is too chaotic in panels that are way too small. Sometimes it's really hard to tell what's going on in the panels.

A kid used as bait dies cursing the world and becomes a demon, potentially an incredibly powerful one. But even the strongest demon can't enter the city's barrier and attack the cathedral. The fact the villages and towns outside of the city that lack its barrier come under attack only furthers their power base and the hunting of demons outside of the city does let them still occasionally go yes see we protect the entire world not just ourselves.
The church in this maintains a cycle that ensures their power. One that is hopefully broken by them being destroyed and demons not hunting anyone else.
