TBH I have no problem with it, what make me a little sad is that the thing being iterated is also very basic rendering of the trope, if someone iterate on a isekai that fine but if we are in the round medical city with cheat skill and banned from party in a vaccum that may be fine but well... most of us seen more than 1 author take this plotIn their defense, evolution tends to come in repeated iterations of the same thing with a small difference getting emphasized over a long period of time. It isn't what Pokemon has poisoned a generation to think of the word as.
So what's the difference being emphasized this time around? The protagonist is way more assertive, likes their new form and there's no sure way to undo it. Karii had to answer to someone who could force her back into male form and in fact did so at one point on behalf of the transphobic* best friend. Magical Trans had an undercurrent of shame culture hanging over it -- that fantasy worlds do not goes a long way to explain why so many manga take place in them.
(*I'm not using the term here to mean hateful/bigoted but literally in the sense of expressing hostile aversion or discomfort towards someone being gender subversive. That can eventually become hate over time though.)
I think chapter 1 is way too early to judge something as formulaic, myself. Yeah it's using some well-worn fantasy manga tropes but what happens from here is what makes or breaks it. The fact it's not a boilerplate reincarnation isekai ironically is a point in its favor there. (if an author can't make a protagonist relatable without being from our world, that is damning of both them and their audience)TBH I have no problem with it, what make me a little sad is that the thing being iterated is also very basic rendering of the trope, if someone iterate on a isekai that fine but if we are in the round medical city with cheat skill and banned from party in a vaccum that may be fine but well... most of us seen more than 1 author take this plot
Again more power to the author and I am happy to be here but also I hope we get someone a little less formulaic
Oh yeah 100% many story now kinda skip the early story and just jump into, it is not bad in itself but also harder to do well... but ngl also this is better than reading for the 100 time what what a adventurer rank isI think chapter 1 is way too early to judge something as formulaic, myself. I'm pretty sure from here we're getting a hilarious romp about a hero who isn't doing their hero-ly duty and instead is living it up as a girl while the demon king gets increasingly flustered by their lack of progress because she's going to be stuck as a cute girl too. That's actually a pretty funny/solid setup even without the gender bending, which is not something you could say of Magical Trans. But the gender bending is definitely potentially elevating it.
